Ball size 1999 T-1950

Does anybody know what ball a stock T-1950 takes. I just bough it and the previous owner wasn't sure

I believe 2 5/16" is correct for this TT.

If you drove it home with a 2 5/16", then that is good as you confirmed it was not a smaller one. Rules out it might have been a 2".

You have the 2 5/16" on that camper. The 2" size is the one that gets confused sometimes that are on the older small campers.

To confrim you have the right ball, put the ball up in the coupler, slide the latch shut and wiggle it around. There should only be a total of approx 1/16" play. A 2" would be real sloppy with 1/4" too much play. And they do not make them any bigger then 2 5/16" on Sunline trailers. As FYI, 2 5/16" with the correct rating can go up to 30,000# as used on goose neck trailers.

Yep, that trailer should be 2 5/16" from the factory.

Hmmm, I wondered about that also. Mine is a T1350 and I believe mine, too, has the 2 5/16. Yet I'm using a 2" ball. I never had any problem but did notice it a bit sloppy. The safety catch is enough to hold it but. I never saw any stamp on the tongue and I have no manual but I'm sure you guys would know best.

While I'm on this topic, last fall after the season came to a close I bought a 4" drop draw-bar.

You guys might remember an issue I complained about last year when my tongue was sitting too high and my TT had a sway after a certain speed. I had my TT spring re-arched hoping to raise the TT. I think I was targeting to the wrong theory. I didn't need to raise the TT but to lower the tongue.

With that, every time I pulled the TT off the end of our driveway or parking lots, the rear skid pieces always scrapped bottom with that annoying noise. I also found out later that the Ford Explorer has a higher rear receiver than most other tow vehicles. I'll know better this summer "to be continued"

I believe you have a 2" coupler. I have 2" on my 1983 T-1550.

I actually picked the trailer up from buyer and then went to a Meet and Greet in Up-State New York with the trailer pulled on my 1 7/8 " ball, a total of about 300 miles before I realized the coupler was for a 2" ball. It pulled very well and I had no issues, although I don't recommend it.

My 1996 T-2053 is a 2 5/16" coupler. So I have 3 trailers all with different couplers and each with a different hitch set-up.

The 1 7/8" is a Harbor Freight light utility trailer, not a travel trailer.

I'll check my coupler on the T-1550 as I think under the paint on the coupler may be the ball size. I'm pretty sure I saw it on the T-2053 as when I picked that trailer up I came prepared for 2" and 2 5/16".

I did a quick check and test this morning. The 1983 T-1550 had no info on the coupler/tongue. It didn't want to accept my 2-5/16" ball. It takes the 2" ball readily.

The 1996 T-2053 coupler/tongue does have info on it. See pictures. If you look closely at picture "b" you will see just below and to the right of the screw 2-5/16" DIA. BALL marked.
