Unless a spur of the moment camping trip arises, we're at home until August 10th when we leave for two weeks in the Adirondacks at Fish Creek Pond. DW suggested today that we extend for an extra two days as the site we're on is not reserved for two days at the current end of our time there. Might just have to do that....
We're home too, until Tuesday when we head off to Lake Michigan for 5 nights.
Today was spent installing an extra set of scissor jacks on my 5'er, near the tires. Then, as it always happens, I found more stuff to caulk, this time, the inside top seal on my galley slide.
Caulking the side seams right next to a wall is proving quite tricky!
Tomorrow I'm leaving for a few day at Camp Cutler with Brian to camp with the Cub Scouts. It's not with the Sunline but it's a lot of fun. The kids have a swim meet in the morning then Brian and I are leaving from there.
We've added an awning to "Stinky." We worked on that today. Also have out of state company for a visit so have been busy with them. We'll be leaving for a week or more of camping this Tue or Wed. We should be able to get a site right on the lake this time.
We were out camping in the middle of no mans land. Kinda nice. Found a new CG but my rig was a little big for the CG layout. They put me on a site they call the "road". It wasn't a site, but a cut-off road. The CG owner even made sure I had plenty of electrical cord and water hose to reach the connections on the adjacent site a good 50' away. Besides the trouble I had getting out of the CG it was a nice little trip.
We were at Old Mill Stream this past weekend. Must have been the weekend for bad site access.......I had a "T" with a monster fiver in the other half Those who have been there will understand. Oh well, he was gone before we left, so exiting was a lot easier.
We are headed to Artillery Ridge in Gettysburg, PA this coming weekend. Will be camping with mdfiregal's brother (speaking of monster fivers: 40' Cedar Creek hanging on the rear of a single axle Volvo tractor ) and going to a family reunion on Sunday.
Sunline is dropped in Maryland indefinitely for my mother in law to live in for a bit until she finds an apartment.
She didn't want to pull the switch too early on moving into a place that might be in a 'less than desireable' neighborhood so she found a suitable campground to move into, Rambin Pines.
If anyone has any leads on a good area to rent an apartment around Elkridge, I'd greatly appreciate it, she wants to avoid the beltway for morning commutes.
The sooner she finds a place, the sooner the Sunline returns for my use!!!
I hope everyone is having a great summer and enjoying their campers as much as time allows!
We're home indefinately; must conserve funds. No State budget + No State pay! = No camping or extra-curricular activities! One paycheck for gas, groceries, and house payments but I'm still required to report to work!
I'll stop before I.... ...lose...control.
Happy for those of you still camping this summer though! Enjoy; maybe we'll get caught up later! Safe travels!
I feel your pain! I'm a MD state employee who has survived furloughs in fiscal year 2009 and with double the furlough days anticipated for 2010 plus a salary reduction. MD did an almost $300 billion budget reduction yesterday with over $400 to reduce by Labor Day. And like you I get the privilege of reporting to work without pay.
I feel very lucky... I'm a state government employee (Florida - 29+ years) and so far we've managed to dodge the budget axe. I still come to work and they still pay me. That may not continue after January 2010. Have to wait and see. Hope it does. Need money to camp.
Speaking of camping, we've been out of pocket since July 18th... camping!
A whole entire week in Crozet Virginia... near the bottom of Skyline Drive. 1st big road trip with the Sunline. 1st encounter with HILLS/MOUNTAINS and the Sunline. It sure ain't like pulling the popup!
FYI, out here in California, the state employees are going through the same thing. I thought this was unique to Calif. I see a lot of states are in the same financial position. Politicians spending money.
