I drilled a hole in the slide to install a 15A inlet connector so I could have an inside extension cord to run an electric space heater. Running two heaters (along with everything else) was tripping the 30A breaker on my panel.
West Marine sells the inlet in either black or white.

Here it is going in.

Finished on the exterior

I cut the male end off an extension cord, hard wired it to the inlet and ran it from under the dinette seat.

Now Penny can put her heater anywhere in the living area and isn't dependent on a AC outlet being close by.

Neat!

Love the picture with the hole! Makes me think a neat next project like that would be a mobile birdhouse! Add a dowel for a perch and box the interior and done! ;-)

Well maybe a deluxe unit would have a entry brow or roof over the entry hole.

Hi Teach,

Nice work and good idea. Thanks for sharing.

We all take away something from sharing pics, you wall looks like a foam core? and the inside dinette frame looks like aluminum framing. Didn't know they did the inside frame work like that in metal.

Thanks

John

Nice job Teach!

With 50AMP service, I don't see where I would need the 15AMP service for the same reason as you. However, It would be a great way to keep the batteries charging! I'd probably have to put it on a transfer switch though. That would keep the 50AMP connector prongs from being energized.

Yup, it's a foam core. The whole trailer is aluminum framed, inside and out. It's pretty toasty even when the temps go into the 20s. Also, running two space heaters cuts down on condensation considerably.
