A Sad Day for Us

As many of you know we were lucky enough to find a winter campsite for our trailer which allowed us to continue to camp and use our trailer over the winter months. Well today was the day we moved off of our winter campsite and brought the trailer home officially marking the end of our winter camping season. This past weekend we had our end of season pot luck with the other winter campers at the park and have slowly watched as several of them moved off their sites. For those of you folllowing our winter adventure I have posted several photos of what our site looked like this past weekend as well as our trailer finally hooked up and ready to move off the site.

Yes I have followed your winter camping adventures. You truly have a unique area and Park service that allows this option. Good for you.

We have not camped as much as we would of liked to have this winter. In the last few weekends I had some major running gear surgery on our T310. However she is ready to roll now and we will be out right after the Easter holidays.

Yes spring is now here and good times ahead.

This was a provincial park in Ontario, which is similar to a state park in the US. We paid a nominal fee up front and then would just pay a regular nights camping fee for each night we used the trailer.

We only have 3 provincial parks and one conservation area that are open all year for winter camping. The park we stayed at was the only one that allowed us to leave our trailers on site for the entire season. This is an experimental program and one we are hoping they will do again next year. The really nice thing about this program is not having to tow the trailer through snow storms and bad road conditions.

In my photos, I tried taking a photo of the same area each time we were at the trailer to show how much the area had changed with the snow cover between visits.

This weekends camping trip will be close to home so we can clean the trailer and purge the winter gear out of the trailer and get it setup for our spring and summer trips. Also
I have a couple of Mods I have been wanting to do to the trailer and hope to do them this weekend as well.

Glad to hear that your rig will be ready to roll after Easter weekend. Hopfully we will be able to finally meet at the Meet & Greet in June and compare notes on winter camping experiences.

Is "Killbear" one of them? I guess you didn't say if it was Ontario.
We are booked to spend two weeks there in the second half of July.

No Killbear is not open all year round. The parks that are open all year long for winter camping are Mew Lake in Algonquin Park, The Pinery and MacGregor PP. The conservation area that is open in Valen Conservation Area, however they close for the month of December.

Killbear is a very nice park and I am sure you will enjoy it very much.

Yes. I like Killbear a lot.
Camped there the first time in 1973, and have been back many times since.
This will be the first time to Canada since 9-11, and it will be the first time there that we are not camping in a tent.
