Hello! We are remodeling our "new to us" trailer. The interior electric plugs work, but none of the lighting. We found a unconnected black & white wire behind the frig (which we removed). We are unable to figure out how to track down a wiring schematic to try & fix the problem. HELP!!!!!:-x

If the lights, pump, fans don't work there is is no power from the battery. The outlets are not part of the system that lights the lights etc they are battery power only. The converter should power up all the 12 volt stuff however some will not work with out a battery. There should be a fuse in the system generally some thing in the 30 amp range maybe some one knows where it might be. Often they are near the battery. The converter also has fuses for the 12 volt power under a small cover door fastened to the converter.

We have the trailer plugged into an outlet at the house (using a converter plug), so it should not be a battery issue, correct? We've checked all the fuses, they all seem good. No fans or pumps work either. I'm wondering if its the converter itself & trying to figure out how to check that.

I don't know about your converter you got a number for the converter? Does it have a battery installed? Is the battery charged? If the battery is charged it alone should light the lights. Many setups had an inline fuse at the battery.

Check the model of your converter. If by chance it is a MODEL 3215 It utilizes manual switch in top panel of Converter-in place of automatic relay. Put this switch in "CONV" position to convert 120 VAC to 12 VDC.

MODEL 3220, 3230 or 3240 - with automatic relay - will instantly switch 12V lights and motors to battery.

This is from the Parallax Power Components 3200 series owner operator manual.

One more thing you might check are the 120 volt breakers some times they connected the converter/charger to a breaker. It will look just like a breaker inside your house most likely in a small gray box. If it does indeed have a manual change over switch it still should work if "A" the battery is charged or "B" the converter is working.

Ok, color me stupid.....I didn't know a battery had to be hooked up.....I do now....I had a marine battery & hooked it up.....viola! We have lights!

Glad everything worked out for you - simple fix!
