2499 skylight dimensions

Hello All -

I’m going to do a roof rehab with Snow Roof as recommended by another owner, but first need to replace two of the three crankeable skylights which have disintegrated. Does anyone know off-hand the correct dimensions for these parts (and perhaps the most economical way to get them)? I’ll replace then use the Dicor non-sag, non-leveling caulk first before using the Snow Roof, unless other owners have a better idea for me.

Hi Steve,

Do not know what year your T2499 is however they only made that floor plan from 2003 to 2007 and I know those years fairly well.

You mentioned, "skylight", "Crankable" and and you want to use Dicor caulk on it.

From that, I thinking you want the roof vents. There are 3 of them in the 2499. One in the bath with a "whizzer" fan as we call it... 1 in the bedroom and 1 in the living room area.

Do you want just the plastic dome? Or the entire unit, which is the metal flange, plastic dome and the screen? I know some of the 2004 models had real issues with rusting and the domes going brittle real early in their life. I happened to get 3, 2004 models with this issue. A 2004 T2499, A 2004 T310SR and a 2004 T1950.

You can search that part at other places too, I know Etrailer and have bought many items with good success. If you buy over $99 worth you get free freight

Heads up, that original style has a different hinge and screen setup then the new ones you can buy today. While they do sell the replacement domes to fit those older vents, Ventline discontinued the metal flanges and that style hinge.

I would shop for that one on price. It seems really high for just adding the whizzer fan.

If you want to replace the ceiling garnish, the plastic trim inside, you have to get the correct length. The standard ganish that comes with many of the roof units is too short. They do sell the longer ones.

Let us know if you are taking up the metal flange off the roof, can give you some pointers on how to get the sealant to release and not be a real bugger of a time.

Thanks VERY much for your complete reply. Mine is a year 2003 Model 2499 and I only want to replace the plastic dome so your answer is extremely helpful. The two units have completely disintegrated but are fortunately covered with Max-Air covers and I use those padded squares on the inside to keep the weather out. I’ll have to remove the Maxx-Air units, replace the Ventline covers and then put the Maxx-Airs back over the whole things and then seal with the Dicor. After that I’ll re-seal everything else with the Dicor and then finally put a new coat of roof paint on the whole shebang.

If you have any opinions about the use of “Snow Roof” vs. some other brand, please let me know. I read a couple of good reviews about Snow Roof, but don’t really know — the 2003 Model 2499 has a rubber roof, as you know.

Glad the info was helpful and thanks for the good words.

Just checking, I'm a little confused on the words in blue above, do you mean you are Dicor'ing down the Max Air covers? That is not a normal thing to do.

Snow Roof, I myself have not used that product. I looked up their website, https://www.snowroof.com/home.asp I did not see it listed for a traveling RV. Have you called them to check? The twisting and flexing of towing would be a concern to clear up they have tested it and it's OK. I'm not close enough to this product to know good or bad.

We a forum member who has used this 2 part coating system. I have seen it after he did it and it will restore/repair the loss of the white layer of the original Dicor EPDM rubber roof.
