We played that possum game (and won !) last summer !

I was thinking like Red Neck Horseshoes or Capture the Possum or What's in the Bag.

JUST A REMINDER - there are still many good sites left for the Adk M&G at Nick's Lake, Old Forge, NY!!!!!

Come join us for some relaxation, fun, good food and good friends!

old forge m & g

Can't wait to show off our new Solaris T260-SR. We've been loking for a while for this model and found it in our own backyard. Still have the C-951 slide in completely refurbished and repainted and re detailed red white and blue theme. Looking for a buyer. Have ideas for activities and would appreciate a list off couples attending m&g

Mir - go to the original post #1 - it is listed at the very bottom.....and thank you for taking on "recreation"!

Can you send some pictures to leokathy@frontiernet.net and the price - I'd like to show Leo!

Congratulations on your new to you T260SR!

May make it afterall

I sent a PM to Leo but I thought I'd put this up here as well.
We are trying to adjust our schedule to make the M&G. (This involves house/pet sitting here in Richmond.)
I see by the website there are sites left. We're pulling a 30-footer with two slides nowadays. We are also traveling with our kitties. They don't like too much noise and commotion. Which of the remaining sites would work best for us? Site 45 looks tempting.
Hope this works out for us.

Teach,

The neighbors on site #44 are really rowdy! (Just kidding, it's us.. Tom and Deb). Nick's Lake is really quiet. Leo and Kathy will likely respond, but 45 is a good spot as far as we're concerned. We've reserved #44 for 4 yrs. or so and love being close to the water.

Teach, I responded to the PM - I think I have to rethink #55 - however the road coming into the loop and the main campground road boarders the rear of the trailer.....

I'm thinking #38 or 39 and then 45 - 45 is a bit harder to get into!!!!

Hope to see you there!

Hi Teach,

I'm responding to your 30 footer comment and Nick's Lake. We have been twice to Nick's, what a nice park. Wish it was closer.

Don't know if you knew of this picture site of camps in the Adirondacks, the couple who hosts this and have taken the time to create it, are a true friend to the campers who travel to this area. It is the best! Hopefully I can meet and thank them in person some day. Here is your site 38
Nicks Lake Campsite Photo Database

You should have no problems getting in. I will give you a heads up on 2 areas getting out with your 30 footer. You can do it, I can get my 33 footer through, just a heads so you know to expect it.

In loop C it is a one way single lane camp road after the entrance area. When you leave you may select to pull out and proceed down the road towards sites 40 area and around the loop and out you go. Heads up!!! down around site 40 to 42ish (I think) you will go down a slight hill and there is a turn to the left. Be cautious as you want to stay far to the right going around that turn to not get the camper stuck in a tree on the left side through that turn. A long camper and turning too sharp left can have the camper in the tree on the left. They have been doing a lot of work in the campground in the last few years and may have removed that offending tree or not. The battle scars on it show others did not have the heads up.... I know you can get through there, watch your left side mirror and just heads up and go slow.

The next area is the dump station. It is a hard turn loop filled in with trees on both sides. This one you need to stay far to the left on your way in so you can swing the camper to get out. Again, you can do it and some really big 5'ers some how get through there.... again heads up and go slow and be prepared to stay left to allow room to swing on the right on the way out.

Now that you know of these 2 spots, walk them over the weekend to see and think ahead of time and you will have no issues.

Hopefully maybe next year or the year after we may make it back to the M & G at Nicks. The "R" word will hopefully be in full force then....

Have a good trip

John

John B thanks for posting that......

Do you have a link to all the campgrounds that "the couple" may have on a site???

Me, again

Looking at the map, it seems the most direct route from Wilmington to Old Forge is SR86 -> 3 -> 30 -> 28. It's only 110 miles that route and I don't need to see an interstate and can enjoy the scenery. Good route for towing?
(See, told you I'd be back.)

Teach

Teach that would be the most direct route - I can only tell you from 30 south to 28 south - some parts are a bit rough but not terrible....

When we heard to Saratoga Springs NY - we take 28 North to 28/30 over and then the Thruway south....then do the reverse to come home......28 is the worse BUT they are paving it and it should be done by M&G!
