2014 Great Lakes/Midwest Meet & Greet - Happy Campers

Happy Campers

While a little cool, Mother Nature cooperated and supplied a mostly dry weekend with partly sunny. We only had a few sprinkles over night. Sunday was perfect to close out the 2014 Mid West M & G!

Here are some pics.

And last but not least, the fellow band of Happy Campers! :D (Saturday night campfire in hats, coats and blankets...)

We had a really great time and looking forward to going back next year.

I hope everyone enjoys the weekend and the weather cooperates. We were looking forward to seeing everyone again and meeting those new to the Midwest M&G

Hi Dona,

Sorry about your truck, boy life come at ya fast... Hope no one was hurt.

Hope to see Charlie and you next year.

Take care

John

Hi John! Glad the weather was good for you over the weekend. That green grass sure looks good after all the white crap we had for what seemed like forever.

Yeah, pretty bummed about the truck. I had just made a payment that morning (only a few more to go) and he had it waxed and buffed Wednesday. The adjuster is supposed to come look at it tomorrow or Tuesday. Hoping they'll pay to fix it and not total it (it is 10 years old). The bed is shifted, bumper pierced/torn up/pushed in/shifted, 7 prong plug mutilated & cap gone, and the 'check engine' light came on . Charlie was stopped in a line of traffic at a red light when he got hit. Speed limit is 35 and I think the Focus used the F150 instead of brakes to stop. Glad he didn't get pushed into the guy ahead of him. The passenger in the Focus must have hit the windshield because it was shattered. They had 2 small kids (one about a year old) but said no one was hurt. Charlie's coworker said his shoulder was pretty sore and went to doctor. Charlie has been taking ibuprofen, soaking in the tub and using Bengay. We're thankful things weren't worse.

Hoping to join everyone at the M&G next year.

I like that tripod, John. ;)

The tripod... Jim's ladder was a "step" up from my folding table on top of Jacks.... And then there are those wandering camera phones....

So we did what every camper does, improvise....

I have a mini tripod, and it is now going to move to the camper for next time...:)

This was just a wonderful and educational weekend, found several bugs to fix before July week campout we are going to, Air conditioner thermostat again, but maybe something else making it stick, Cabinet door latches broke need replaced, Drawer for silverware broke loose in back where slide attachs to wall, then we get home and the door we were planning on working on this fall decided to fall apart so spent yesterday making a new door. BUT STILL A GREAT camp out, Great stories and conversations about campers, Mine towed better on the way home, after Jim helped pump up camper tires. Thanks Jim. Learned much from John about how to adjust for better pull Thanks John and enjoyed the stories Denny.

Quadropod

Hi, All,

I like to nominate JohnB as the first photographer in the world to use a quadropod. Hey, we're good at doing what works.

It WAS a great weekend. Thanks to Jack and Jim for the firewood. Thanks to Jim for checking the tongue weights. Thanks to JohnB for pointing out the frame cracks in our unit. Easily fixed at this point. Good catch, John. And thanks to all of our ladies who fed us. Good stuff, girls ! You, too Jack !

Sharing of information is the hallmark of our M & G 's. Keep 'em coming. Looking forward to next year ! :D

Now that's funny...

Hey, us SOC members know how to improvise!

H'mm, what if we did use the 2 tables stacked on top of each other in place of Jim's ladder, would that be an "octopod"...

Probably would have been a disaster. When the shutter clicked tables would have turned and all would tumbled down. Motion picture?

Late to post but so busy packing, packing and more packing to move. Lots of great information learned. I finally learned how to tame my awning when putting it up!

I wish that we could have been there with our 1983 Sunline. We enjoyed camping with all of you a couple of years ago. Is there any possibility that the Great Lakes Meet and Greet could be moved into early June? I teach and we don't usually get out of school until late May or early June. The bad thing is that at the end of the year it is almost impossible to get subs to cover for me and it is difficult to get packed and ready to go right after work. Just wondering. Thanks

Hi Kathy, sorry we missed you. The group did pick a June date for 2015. It is June 12 to 14, 2015 at Great Lakes. We have not started the new post yet. So stay tuned for a signup later this year. Have a good camping season.

John
