Great! Have a safe drive up, and we'll see you Friday afternoon. Mapquest says it's about a 6 hour trip right up Route 12

The forecast for the weekend is cool in the daytime and down right chilly at night. I am bringing my long johns and plenty of blankets!

With the news on the road conditions on 28 I googled alternatives. It's actually 15 minutes faster to take rt 30 from the Thruway to 28 in Blue Mt Lake then down instead of the Thruway to Utica and north.

Looks like we'll be right behind you Steve. We plan on being there about 5 or so on Friday with extra propane for the furnace.

See you all soon

By the way, we can do the math this weekend for comparison. We stayed at a campsite last weekend north of Saranac Lake where 29% of the trailers were Sunlines.

Paul & Sheri,

We are booked into Nicks Lake on Thursday, but the with impending nasty weather, we think we'll wait and come up Friday morning.

I think we are all packed except for a grocery run and maybe a fillup on one of the propane tanks. It is supposed to be chilly this weekend. We each packed lots of layers of clothing and such.

Once you clear Amsterdam on Route 30, it is pretty much smooth sailing all the way to Blue Mountain Lake and down to Old Forge. Wells, Speculator, and Indian Lake are your only villages on Route 30 and they won't hold you up. In Wells, they are rebuilding the bridge at Lake Algonquin and it's alternating one-way traffic. We've never been stuck there so it should not be a problem this weekend either.

See you all on Friday for sure!

Here's some trivia for you. Hamilton county is one of if not the largest county in the state and has the least population. (about 5000) I believe the temporary light in Wells at the bridge construction is the only traffic light in the county.

Is the pig rock still along the road north of Speculator? It's been there since I was a kid and camping at Moffitt's Beach. Which by the way is where Sheri and I met in 1968.

Here's a toss up. For some entertainment, how about a game of Name That (TV theme) Tune. I have quite a collection on my Ipod including some real challenges. Who's the king couch potato?

Knew that. Been looking over census stats as our ambulance serves Hope and Benson now. Trying to predict call volumes.

Yup, good paint job on him/her at the moment, too.

Uh, I won't claim king couch tater, but I sure am up for the music trivia. Bring it on. Gail just watched Peter Gunn for the first time ever (long story) and I bet she'll get that one right.

I'll come up Friday AM and register for the M&G site - then back home for some last minute "stuff" (a/k/a crap) that has to get done.....then up to Nick's to set up - we will be there Friday night for sure, have to leave Saturday morning for the wedding, and then back up to the Pot Luck Dinner.....hopefully the rain will stop!!!!!

I just talked to Doug, he's been there since Monday, and he said the rain is finally letting up some. C loop hasn't washed away so we're all still good. Looks like it'll be a nice but cool weekend after this monsoon passes through. Now if I can talk him into bailing out my site before I get there. See y'all tomorrow.

Good Morning ALL
This is David and Kathy Hirtle...we are new comers to the club and are unable to make the NY gathering. Does our club do a winter rally in FL? We winter south east of Tampa...
We have a T-1950 and love it!
Thanks!
Enjoy the gathering....wish we could join you all.

No, but you could create one!! Just pick the place, make sure they have room first (and it isn't full of seasonals for the winter), pick a date, and let everyone know. You plan it and they will come!

I know of a few who have had interest in the past of creating one in southern Georgia/northern Florida, but no one ever wanted to plan it. I suspect you could get 3-5 just based on what I can recall off the top of my head, and no doubt newer members will see it that weren't part of that discussion before and will want to join in. I planned the first meet & greet in southern Michigan last year and at first I thought maybe we'd get like three, we ended up with seven units.

Winter Rally

Thanks, Jon
We might just do that.....There are lots of great state camping areas in the mid-state area....Where are most folks likely to congregate? You mentioned "northern" FL....Is that where most members are?
David and Kathy

Hi David & Kathy,

There really aren't many members in Florida period, but by doing it in northern Florida, you have the chance to broaden your market by making it possible for those in the NC/SC, Georgia, Alabama, Mississippi, all be able to come. If you start getting too far down the peninsula, less people will want to come.

It's actually the same dilemma I had with the Michigan one, I couldn't go too far up into Michigan because fewer people could drive around all that way to come up, so that's why it's only about a 1/2 hour from the Ohio/Indiana border.

I don't really know of any active members from Florida anywhere south of Tampa, so going further down would make it difficult. Anyone down there would also be wintering like yourselves, and at this point we don't have too many members who do (or post that they do anyway).

If you happen to meet anyone with a Sunline when you get down there, make sure to let them know about the meet & greet!

Jon

Well another wonderful weekend ....we had "mostly" dry (but very cold) weather, more than enough food & drink, and wonderful memories made with many old and some new friends!!!!

I want to thank all my Sunline Buddies who helped Leo and I celebrate our 32nd wedding anniversary dinner at Slickers......Lori I would not want to hold my breath for the "intimate dinner" I'm supposed to get!

John, Kim.....we all hope you made it home timely and safely! You will be in our prayers!

Hope everyone else had a safe trip home....it took us a whole 5 minutes to travel home because of the traffic!!! ;););)

The 2011 Adirondack M&G has tentatively been scheduled for the last full weekend of September - September 23 & 24, 2011! Hoping to see everyone come back........Doug said he already ordered no rain and warmer weather for next year!

You drove all the way home without stopping to take a break?
We were thinking about everyone at Nicks Lake and wish we were there, but with only so many vacation days, we have to pick and choose only so many trips a year. The ADK M&G will come back up to the top of the list.
