2008 EASTERN M&G

Getting to know you

It's only mid-January and many of us are already planning and talking about our spring, summer & fall camping outings. Our Sunline sits outside our living room window, behind our house. I swear I hear it calling me every day the temperature is well above freezing. "Isn't it time to go?"

Well, the reason for this post. As I read your posts, I notice many of you seem to know each other quite well. It almost seems like I'm lurking behind a tree evesdropping on private conversations. My wife and I are looking forward to attending the M&G at Buttonwood especially so that we can meet and get to know other Sunline enthusiasts. Till we meet on the road, at campsite or at Buttonwood, remember that warmer weather is coming. :D

John & Jeanne:

I get the same calling every morning when I get in my car to come to work: The Sunline looks like it is begging to go. We can never wait until the weather gets warm. Every March we pass by Lewisburg on the way up to Worlds End State Park for our annual "Escape from 3-Mile Island" weekend. We have rented a cabin in the park every March since 1979 when we felt the need to move to safer ground. Two of our best trips were in the blizzards of 1993 and 1996 when we got snowbound in the park and couldn't go home.

See you in June at the M&G.

John,

First off, come out from behind that tree! There are only fellow campers here. :D

I’m sure you have been in a camp ground where you see your neighbor next door who you never met and when you see them you say Hi. And some times even strike up a good conversation. Well here on Sunline club this is sort of a virtual camp site complete with Sunline coaches. So we are first united by being campers and then by having a passion for the best Coaches around. What a combination. :D

So come on and join in, any time.

And yes some of us know each other off line. But most of us found each other here on line first. And now we too found you. Will be glad to meet you and your wife in person this June. I missed last year due to work. But this year I can maybe put the faces to the keyboards…. 8)

Now as far as the your Sunny calling you, well go talk to her. :!: A back yard campout is better then none. And you might find a passion for winter camping like we do. :D

Happy camping and look forward to seeing you in June.

John

John,

I ditto John B's comments......

My grandfather used to say - "You are only a stranger once!"

Now that you have posted - guess what - you are no longer a stranger.....

That tree bark does not look flattering in your smile!

Thanks!

Thanks to the many of you who recommended that I just join in. I look forward to meeting you and putting names and faces together. The hard part, after that, will be remembering names. (That's becomes more of a problem each year.) :) Think Spring!

See, " We" have more things in common then you think..... H'mm maybe take notes.... LOL I know I will have to.

I wasn't there last year. Maybe a name tag might be an idea to consider with the larger number of us this year. On other events like this they used the tag in a holder around your neck that where not to bad. Make a fancy Sunline Club logo on it maybe. The stick on's, well they are good for about 4 hours....

Think spring  Yup. Another thing in common. With it being zero here tonight and a high of 20 today, spring can't come fast enough...

I like the idea of name tags on a lanyards. It means that I don't need to ask you name 7 or 8 times. I'm bad when it comes to remembering names.

Rob and Kathy

Great!!! Look forward to meeting you two.

Spring can't get here fast enough right about now. More white stuff predicted for tonight :(

Happy camping

Eastern Meet and Greet

How does the M&G work? Is there a potluck dinner or do we eat by ourselves or do we all eat together but provide our own food? What else is planned or is it just social?

... I know I could use some more of Mary's chocolate chip pancakes!

That’s one of our basic staples when we camp, so don’t worry Jon, I’m sure Mary will be ready to accommodate you again this year. :D

We also have to have the bag omelets again this year.

As for nametags, I think we need the screen name on them like so...
Mary (aka Hutch)
Tom (aka Hutch)
Although I don't know how Steve will feel about being
Steve (aka QUEtSE)

I'll have name tags for everyone.
So when you get there, come to Site # 84 for your name tag.

I need to start looking around for inexpensive holders and lanyards. Maybe we'll just end up using yarn or ribbon for lanyards.

Pam,
Here's an example of what I worked up for name tags. I saved Stave from being "Mr. QUEtSE" 😉

What are bag omelets! We always make Egg McMuffins for our last meal before packing up.

Bag omelets are where you put all the ingredients for an omelet in a freezer bag and boil them. Jon (aka SunlineFan) introduced us to them at last years M&G, great fun making them and they task great too.
Jon can give a much better description of them than me. I remember him posting instrutions for making them, but I couldn't find the post.

Last year it was very laid back.

Friday night – group camp fire.

Last year we did a BYO group breakfast gathering on Sunday, which was a lot of fun.
That’s were we made the bag omelets and Jon (aka SunlineFan) and Pat (aka emam) got their chocolate & blueberry pancakes from Mary.

It would be nice this year to have a BYO group breakfast gathering on both Saturday & Sunday, hopefully in the Tent if we can get it, since there's so many more of us this year.

We went kayaking on Sat. The campground rents kayaks and canoes. We plan on doing that again.

There’s a Farmers Market up the road on Sat. morning that Jon (aka SunlineFan) and family went to. He can tell you how it was.

Layback, relax, tour everyone’s Sunlines, get to know each other, and have fun.

Hope that helps.

Boy, all this talk about camping is really working me up. I can't wait to get the trailer out and about. We are looking forward to the M&G very much. Also the name tags are a great idea.

Bag Omelets

Thanks for the referral to Pat's blog from last year. The omelets sound good and easy for a crowd. We have never been kayaking and a river seems like a good place to start. Sounds like a fun weekend!

We are supposed to get 5-8" of that white stuff this weekend - can't wait for June!
