1st outing

We bought a 2007 T-1950 last fall. We are getting ready for our first outing. My question is, on my outside elec. box door it says not to hook up to over 30amp. What exactly should I be looking for when I want to reserve a site?

Look for a 30 amp 120 VAC camp site. That is a standard camper and camp ground amperage and voltage. Some of the older CG's have 20 amp and some 15 amp which means you would need an adapter to convert your 30 amp plug to a 15 amp wall outlet plug.

There are 50 amp sites but that are for very large campers that have 220 volt service.

No worries, there are no silly or other wise afraid to ask questions. Just ask. This is the one place you can ask and not worry about it.

The 50 amp plugs are four prong whereas your 30 amp plug is three prong. There's no possible way for a 30 amp plug to fit into a 50 amp socket.

Usually a campsite with a 50 amp plug in will also have a 30 amp. Give the campground a call to double check.

You can just get a plug adapter to go from the 50 down to the 30.

wilson3...........Welcome to the club. We are heading out for our first camp out of the season too, this weekend. Guess it might be a little chilly. We also bought our T1950 last year, but we did get to use it 3 times before we had to winterize it..

Pretty much the NEMA plugs will not fit where they don't belong but that does not stop people from using adapters to do strange things. The power cord on your camper is rated 30 amps max if you use an adapter to plug it into a standard outlet your current rating drops to 15 amps. I'm going out on a limb by saying it is pretty much impossible to plug it into any thing that will give you more then 30 amps with out some pretty serious tinkering. Some campers are not wired with a main breaker so that is why they tell you not to exceed 30 amp because it is possible to exceed the rating of your power cable.
