Love the floorplan on my 1999 sunline Solaris model T 2553.

Unfortunately disaster struck when I retrofitted my grand daughters atv
Throttle which stuck and careened into the rear of camper.

This destroyed the 10 inch x 29 inch storeage door that gives outside access under the bed on the rear of the camper.

The door has to be replaced. Does anyone know a source to buy a new or used compartment door like this.

We don't want to part with this camper even though it is 18 years old because no floor plan/window configuration on a new other brand one or newer T2553 is available like ours. For some reason after 1999 sunline started making the T

2553 without a rear window.

The way it is now the rear compartment door is bashed in and rain and animals have an easy to get in opening.

Help!

Welcome Chuck, and sorry to hear about your quickly escalated situation.

You probably won't find a used door unless you happen to luck out on Craigslist. Due to all the labor required and relatively cheap components, RVs are generally not parted out like cars.

I would give Bontrager's RV Surplus a call with those dimensions. They should have one. I'm not sure if they would ship it, everyone I've known has just gone there:

If they don't work out, you can check with All-Rite, they may either have one in that size or can build you a custom one. Chances are it's a stock size:

In the mean time, I would recommend taping up over the opening so no water does get in. Since it's cold now, it would take an even longer time to dry everything out. Use a trash bag and some tape if you need to. Instead of duct tape, which can leave some nasty residue, I've used white face Gorilla tape. The adhesive backing is still gray, but it doesn't seem to leave residue as easily. It will over a long time (like all winter), but for a short term cover, it should be fine.

Yes, Sunline started making a lot of models without windows over the bed- apparently enough people complained about condensation dripping down in cooler weather. Personally I wish it remained an option, but they went to the fancy headboards instead.

Hi Chuck,

Welcome!!

Try Ebay too. Here is a hit on RV cargo door https://www.ebay.com/sch/i.html?_from=R40&_sacat=0&_nkw=rv+cargo+door&_pgn=2&_skc=50&rt=nc

And for the Surplus places, if Bontragers does not have the size you need, try these folks, Johnson's who are just down the road from them.

The sell on Ebay and now seem to have their own web site.
http://stores.ebay.com/Johnsons-Surplus

You most likely have to call them. Their website or even the Ebay store is not much to talk about but they have "stuff" and there is a fraction of what they have in their yard is not even listed on the web. I have been in both Bontragers and Johnsons and they both are very large. You can build an entire camper out of both places and then some if you wanted to.

Hope this helps

John
