On rough roads, you're not traveling as fast and if you're setup rides better without the WD, then IMO you'll be ok without it, as long as you're not experience too much...

I guess it would depend on how much the trailer weighs down the truck (i.e., how much does the rear of the truck drop when trailer is hooked up)

I'm guessing your trailer's tongue weight is around...
