Hi again j52wf. I did what you are proposing (remove the staples etc.) but I think I removed the section of siding to have better access.

Hi j52wf,

I replaced the wood at the bottom of the awning arm toward the front of the trailer. Not a hard fix but hard to know where to stop if you find a lot of rot.
