Just looked at mine. They're pointed in opposite directions. Taking a real study look the valve handle is pointed in direction of flow.

Depends on rig. You don't put any in hot water tank, you empty and bypass. I blow my lines first then I pump in the antifreeze. On my T2553 I only use about a gallon for the lines. I then pour extra...
