The white plug is the low point heater drain it...

The white plug is the low point heater drain it must not have been tight after the tank was drained for the winter. So I guess you see what I mean about turning off the pump.

To be safe yes turn it off when you are done...

To be safe yes turn it off when you are done running water otherwise it may pump the tank dry while you are away all over the floor!

Yes the things with a"T" handle are the drains up...

Yes the things with a"T" handle are the drains up they are open pushed down they are closed. The heater valves will be different the long part of the handle points to the direction they are in.
