Just finished 780 miles of towing a Winnebago One 30RE (replaced our 2499) down I-95 this past weekend with a 2012 Ecoboost Super Cab. Averaged 8.4 MPG at 60 - 65 MPH into 10 to 25 MPH headwinds. ...

Alternate routing

To avoid all of the CT and NY traffic, the route I take from here in Eastern PA is via I-84 East to I-87 North (NY Thruway) to I-90 East (Mass Pike). I-90 will take you I-495 where you can either go...

Nope, the only Sunline 5th wheel I've ever seen was a couple of years ago parked along I-81 just south of Harrisburg. Seems like Sunday was a big day for Sunlines on the road as we saw far more than...

Hi Kitty,

Yep, we were towing the 2499. We went through WVA between 12:45 and 1:45 stopping in the Northbound rest area for lunch. We'd be pretty easy to identify as I doubt that there are too...

Hi John,

Shouldn't be much of a problem with that route. I traveled I-80 west last August to Canton and the road was in good shape with little construction.

Haven't traveled I-81 from I-80...

Tow vehicle

Observed an actual 10 MPG towing for 1,800 miles PA to GA and back towing a 2006 T-2499 with a 2007 Chrysler Aspen 5.7 liter HEMI multi-displacement v8 in tow mode. That's with 2 bikes on a rooftop...

2499 Overall length

My 2006 2499 Ultra mfg in April 2005 is 26' from the coupler to the outer edge of the back bumper. That's probably accurate to +/- 1 inch.

I use a maybe 15 year old Reese 750 Lb WD hitch. Friction bar anti-sway.

Three links brings me up to level with a Chrysler Aspen.

I'll consider myself lucky that my break wasn't as severe as yours.

Although my unit didn't break along the "A" frame like yours, the metal was bent back somewhat on both sides.
