I didn't use a weight distribution hitch when I towed with the Cherokee. In fact, I used a straight ball (without a drop), in the hitch. Read my post about 13" vs 14" tires:

Your WJ will ride about 1.5" higher than ours if it has a the factory towing package. I will say however, that at 65 mph, she tended to sway a bit when a 18-wheeler would pass. This doesn't happen with the Suburban (longer wheel-base).
Just be careful to balance out the load when you head out, dividing anything you carry between the front and the rear. Keep anything heavy you might pack over the axles. And if you pack the back of the Jeep, remember that also adds to the weight. Here is a site with Jeep towing info I found helpful:
