FL Keys, Marathon, MM 47.5: Porky's Bayside Restaurant

Unique, eclectic little place right on US-1, with a lot of history.

Enjoy local entertainment while dining in a very casual atmosphere. The restaurant is really right on a dock at the edge of a marina that houses many fishing boats, commercial, charter and private.

The food was very good, some of the best we had in the keys.

- Make sure to try the "Beer Butt Chicken". They roast a whole chicken over a beer can and serve it to you that way. Other menu items are also excellent...we went back a second time the day before we left because it was so good!

Best of all, across the street from Porky's is a 1983 Sunline T-3350 on a permanent site. Depending on the crowd and your table (mainly your table though), you should be able to see it while sitting at Porky's, to the ESE.

Oh yes, I forgot to mention that parking here is minimal, so you better not plan to take a trailer here. There are quite a few campgrounds within a couple miles though, so this is a necessary stop when you stay at one of them.

Jon,
Thank's for the tip, We drove by Porky's but never eat there.
I will try it this year. Always looking for a new place to eat. We spend a few wks. in the Key's every year. Did you just come back from the Key's ?Do you go to the Key's every year?
We just love the Key's.....almost as much as our QUE.

No, I was down there last year about this time. When this forum came about, I decided to post this up because it does have a view of a Sunline. I have a couple more I can do closer to home, but this was a start.

I don't go to the keys every year, in fact this was only the second time ever that I had been there.

There are a couple others we stopped at farther north that I thought were pretty good. I have to find out the names. I don't remember them off the top of my head.

Porky's offers some of the best bbq in the keys. Everytime I stay at an islamorada hotel I always make a trip down to Marathon to eat at Porky's. I highly recommend it to anyone who is looking to eat at a laid back but fun atmosphere restaurant.

Not sure how many others use Google Maps Street View but it is almost like driving somewehre in person to see neighborhoods, etc.. I tried to view the Sunline setup but couldn't cet to the proper location. Did see other campers setup though.
