If you are up in Amish country Pa try Yoder's Buffet in New Holland. Of course is is smaller than the Shady Maple, but was still good with lots of choices. The service was good and the patrons were not rude. It seems to be a popular local place that is not as crowded...

Yoder's Buffet is a good place to eat and Yoder's Market is a good place to shop. Many of the menu items are from the Buffet are sold in the Market. While the Market is not as big as Shady Maple, it is big enough and has a very good selection, including bulk items and their own dairy. (At one time, I lived in New Holland; Mom still lives there.)

We love it up in that area.. I think we have been up there at least 3 times this year so far. We tried Yoder's since it was a Sat and thought the Shady would be to crazy.. It worked out well and we enjoyed it.

We like Good-n-Plenty family style restaurant on Rt. 896 in Smoketown. Between Lancaster and Bird-in-Hand. All you can eat, but served family style at your table. Neat to get to sit down at a table with other folks...the staff does a wonderful job of making everyone feel like family. Great break from the Buffett scene.

If you're in Lancaster County on a Friday, check out Green Dragon Farmer's Market. It's a Lancaster County institution. I'm a Lancaster County native and this is the #1 place I miss while traveling. Lots of great food stands, local baked goods, local produce, handmade crafts, and more. I like to say they have everything from local produce to handmade leather goods. We go nearly every Friday when we're home.
