Walmart parking on way to Maine!!

I want to thank Norm for his tips @ Walmart parking in Seabrook for making us brave "trailer park people!" On the way to Acadia National Park we slept in the LLBean lot in Freeport, along with many other people. We were evacuated during Earl and stayed in a Walmart in Ellsworth.....we had hurricane parties and met lots of people. On the way home, both Hampton Beach and Salisbury were full, so we stayed in the Walmart in Seabrook, NH!! I wouldn't seek it out, but for a few hours sleep on your way to a further destination, it worked for us.

Nancy, do you know of a website that lists RV friendly WalMarts? Or, for that matter, a list of free camping spots for overnighting around the country?

I used those sights I think, but you also have to read the comments, because some towns have ordinances against overnight parking. In each case we walked into the store to make sure it was okay. You can't always plan that way, I know, but if you're traveling on the fly (which is what this is, really) you have to look for "no overnight parking" signs. I still think truckers park overnight in rest stops, but you take a chance you'll get kicked out in the middle of the night. There's also a website for I-95 that lists rest stops and facilities along the way.
