Williamsport PA advice

Our original plan was to go from Watkins Glen down to Rt. 15 South and stay on it until we exit - Rt. 35 to Buttonwood. We hear Rt. 15 is "hilly" south of Williamsport and we should take Rt. 180 South for a way and cut over to Rt. 15 further south. We're from Vermont... so "hilly" is not really a problem unless it is really steep, like Killington Mountain. Any advice from PA members ?

Also, any advice about spacious fueling stops along the way?

Rt. 15 is not a problem at all. We go up to Ives Run every year and take 15. There are a couple of turns to stay on 15 through Williamsport, but as long as you pay attention to the signs it's no big deal. Either way is fine. Sometimes we take 180 to go north to Ives Run and 15 when coming home, just because of the direction we're comng from. IMO it's 6 of 1 half dozen of another. But 180 is 9 miles longer.

When we picked up the F-344SR, we brought it down 15 and got off at the 22/322 exit. You shouldn't have any problems!

You'll have no problem staying on Rt-15.
We typically take I-180 bypass around Williamsport just because it's expressway, which is preferable to us when towing.
Coming from VT, what you'll find on Rt-15 are baby hills.

I've taken Rt-17 from Rt-15 to 22/322 and also have taken Rt-15 all the way to 22/322. I've never taken Rt-35. You'll have to tell us how Rt-35 is if you go that way.

Thanks all for the advice. On the way back we'd like a scenic route to Binghamton. Is Rt. 220 a decent route? (We're staying until Monday and hope to avoid the congestion around the larger cities like Scranton).

RT220 is a very good route. You can pick up RT-220 off of I-180 just south of Williamsport, PA

I agree, Rt 15 should not give you any problems. I usually take Rt 15 from Southern PA to Watkins Glen.
The Liberty exit off of Rt. 15& Rt. 287 is decent place to stop and fuel. It’s just north of Williamsport. There is plenty of space to turn around and they have some big rig fueling islands. As you make your way down 15 there will be other places that sell fuel, but a little harder to get in and out of.

Again, appreciate advice and advice on fueling. We are new at this and don't want to get in a bind trying to fuel up or exit the station.

Now.. (I am full of questions!) does anyone know if there are ANY rest stops left on Rt. 88? Seems NY State has closed a bunch and I know we'll want a bit of a break going from VT to Watkins Glen and then again on the way back to Cooperstown. Or easy in and out Walmarts, etc.

Not sure about the rest stops on 88. I do know there is a Wal-Mart in Corning area along Rt. 15.
