I-90 to Sampson State Park

We've been in the area several times and to Sampson museum, but always in a car. What's the easiest route to get from I-90 to Sampson hauling the camper? Google and Mapquest offer some rather odd routes through those small towns off the highway!
(we're staying at Sampson and then Ive's Run before Buttonwood)

Thanks !

If you're coming from Vermont, take Exit 41 (Waterloo) off I-90. Pick up NY 414 south to NY 20. Then west on NY 20 into Waterloo. In the village, turn south on NY 96. Got to NY 336 and head west to NY 96A. Then 96A south to Sampson SP.

It's all state roads with reasonably wide intersections for turning with the trailer. NY 20 is Main Street East and West in Waterloo so if you need supplies, it's a good place to shop.

Note: NY 20 is also NY 5 in that area. Us (former) locals just call it 5'n20.

Also, if you want, just take 5&20 west to 96A and head south. It's wide open roads all the way, but can be slow going between Waterloo and the 96A turn-off if you catch rush hour.

Enjoy! We haven't been there since we moved up to the Adirondacks, but always liked that park for quick get-aways.

Thanks Steve ! We stayed in Seneca Falls at the Holiday Inn and went over to Waterloo to spend time down on the nice little park on the canal so I get your directions perfectly ! I was unsure of the turn in town but glad to know we will be fine with the trailer ! Thanks again.
