I-88 question (NY)
I didn't want to hijack another thread, but I-88 was mentioned and I see we have several SOC members from NY state.
Tom and I plan to take some trips to the Corning/Watkins Glen areas as well as PA. We tend to avoid Albany and go through Saratoga, to Johnstown then Fonda/Fultonville then drop down 30A to the Central Bridge area and then proceed West on I-88. We've done it in a car many times, but never hauling a TT. Does anyone have suggestions of easy in places to gas up. I "think" we will not need diesel, if plans gel for a new TV.
I do see a truck stop map online, but not sure we actually need a huge truck stop type of place. Just easy access for TV and 25' Sunline and easy access back onto the interstate. Oh, enough room to park and get a coffee, too.

I betcha someone will be along to answer your specific question.
Generally, we find any exit that has a Cracker Barrel will fit your requirements. Penny and I try to time our stretch breaks, gas stops and meals with these locations. Invariably, there is a fuel station big enough to handle our rig.

Thanks Teach,
We actually have no Cracker Barrels here in VT so will definitely check them out enroute! I did add the link to my favorites !

Hi Debbie,
We actually did I 88 last year with the camper. We where coming up out of the Hudson Valley and then over through Rt145 to connect to I88 at Cobelskill. Then went I 88 all the way to Corning and then down to Cowanesque Lake Camp ground.
It was OK with the camper. If I remember right there may have been 1 bad spot of old concrete. I think it was maybe 5 miles that sort of seemed like forever. But the rest was OK. They may have they redone that area now, they where working on it last year.
If you get to Corning and have time, see the Glass museum. You have never seen so much glass in one spot before.
John

John, yes ! Been to the glass place. Amazing. We met our good friends (the ones we'll see when we go to Buttonwood as they live so close by) in Corning one year.
All the things you don't think about with a regular vehicle, you need to consider with the TT in tow ! We met up last year in Owego NY and toured around a bit. Gassed up, but can't remember if that station would accomodate a TT in tow. Nice diner in Apalacan, but we'd have to turn left on the busy highway to exit. All things we now must think about. But, I know we'll find good spots along the way and I will keep a log so we know for the next trip.
Tom's nephew drives tractor trailer on weekends for Target and, though they carry enough fuel to make the trip and back, he'll give us some ideas on truck stops when we see him.
We're staying one night in Watkins Glen at Clute, a municipal park before Buttonwood and one night at Hartwick Highlands in Cooperstown on way home. I hope to learn of other good campgrounds in the Corning and N. PA regions as we do meet our friends each year and that area is perfect. They'd need a motel as they do not camp.

There is a Mobil station on the corner of Rt 5 and 30A in Fonda that is a good size and around the corner off of 30A on Riverside Dr, (just over the bridge) there is a truck stop. There is also a good size Hess station in Johnstown on 30A. I hope this helps

Thanks so much. The Mobil will be ideal. We hope not to turn left off the bridge as, depending on traffic, we might be stuck trying to make a left turn to go back and get on 30A. We don't want to go on the Interstate as we prefer 30A to drop down to Interstate 88.
Thanks again !
