Clute in Watkins Glen NY

We're thinking of staying there one night before we go down to Buttonwood. I've seen good good reviews. Has anyone stayed here?

I know this is an old post but I did a search and found it as I have the same question. So I thought I'd give it a bump.

We are considering trying to get a spot here for the Vintage Festival next Sept. I say trying because they don't take any phone reservations until after Feb 1 2013. Lady told me to fill out the online form and send it after Jan 1 with a check for the deposit of three night minimum. They won't accept anything postmarked prior to Jan 1. Seems goofy but the local county park does the same with pavilion rentals.

So, any experiances with Clute Park? I would also consider the State Park if I can't get in here. Had a bad experiance this year after many a year staying at the KOA. I won't go back there.

We did stay one night at Clute on our way to Buttonwood. The staff was nice, it is a town park and reasonable. For the price, we were pleased as the KOA was very expensive and we just needed one night and no frills. Very close sites and fairly open, but clean, good hook-ups and friendly folks. The gorgeous park is across the road, right on the tip of Seneca Lake. So, even if the RV's are close to each other at Clute, you can walk across the road and be in a lovely spot for a stroll or picnic. Walmart is close by for supplies and the town is very nice. We would stay again if in the area.

Thanks, sounds good. We shall see if we get a spot. Any space downtown for the festival is at a premium.
