Cooperstown, NY area?

Looking for suggestion of nice campground in Cooperstown area. We are headed to the Baseball Hall of fame for our NY trip too. Planning to go in July.

Glimmerglass State Park is gorgeous! It's right on Otsego Lake with beach, refreshments, boating, hiking. There are no hookups, but the restrooms and showers are the cleanest, most modern I've seen in a public campground. Little bit of a drive into Cooperstown with all it's activities...... I'd book right away for July!

Gilbert Lake State Park is about 10 miles away. It's also a beautiful park with a beautiful beach.

Markbrit........

Using campgroundreviews.com (admittedly, my favorite campground review site), the following 2 get great ratings:

==> Cooperstown Beaver Valley Cabins & Campsites

==> Cooperstown KOA

Worth considering........

Checked into Gilbert Lake State Park again . I think I will do this. They have 20 amp electric and a dumpstation plus a boat launch at Ostego lake.

Nothing better than making Summer plans while there is 2 feet of snow outside!

I will be really interested to hear your experiences with Gilbert Lake SP. It's on my list of places to visit because of the CCC Museum that is there.

We booked all our major trips for 2011 before the snow even began to fall. Now to look into some minor outings.

It's a very nice well kept park with a great beach and interesting buildings. The sites with electric are open field and very small. You can barely open your awning. The dry sites are a good size typical of state park sites.

The museum is interesting but is only one room with a lot of photos to look at. It's on the edge of the Catskills and close to the Baseball hall of fame and of course Glimmerglass State park and Otsego Lake where you can catch a boat ride through James Fenimore Coopers Leatherstocking region of New York near the head waters of the Delaware River.

Lots to do. Cooperstown not only has the Hall of Fame but is a very interesting town to walk through loaded with historical and magnificent old homes.
