Sorry i don't have any pictures RGar, but I do have info...I went up there this summer just to check it out..it is now a beautiful area but overpriced IMHO..the sites are large (pick one on the road near bath houses! the others haven't really changed much),the new bath houses are really nice, nice landscaping on the entryway..They haven't improved the road going in..its a bit rough until you get into the camp area. Easy access off the interstate..maybe 4 miles in to the office? They close very early up there you know so check with them--may be too late already. If you are from out of state the rate is way high for a state park with nothing in the area to see and do IMHO..the Poconos just aren't what they used to be....

It's off of I84 east of Scranton. We've never been there because there's no "good" way to get there from our area. There is a member that goes there all the time, hopefully they'll chime in!

That would be us. Will actually be going there this weekend. Are you looking for a full hook up site? They are hard to get if you don't book way ahead of time. Let me know what kind of site you're looking for, and when you're interested in going and I'll give you some suggestions.

We have a 3 night reservation from Sunday,October 14th through the 17th .We will be in site 113. Thought we might be able to get a full hookup site but they were all booked.Guess the weekenders are staying an extra day. It's ok,we almost never have full hookups anyways. We will be comming up I81 to I80 then northeast on 390 from Mt Pocono.

You might be better off staying on I81 up to I84 east. The park is only about 4 miles south of I84. Are they going to have the dump station open that late in the season? I know all water will be shut off at the lower lake Oct 9th, where the other dump station is located. The only other dump station is across from Pickerel Point, at Deerfield, but that is already closed for the season. Not sure how things are set up at Pickerel Point after the reconstruction. As for filling your water tank, do that at the park office. The water spigot is on the far right side of the parking lot.

Have not been to the Pickerel Point Campground yet but have been to the Lower Lake Campground.
We found Lower lake to be very nice and the new bath houses are absolutely beautiful. We where here this year and in 2010.
Here is some of the Lower Lake area
The Lake area
We would stay here again. It is a good travel distance from my Mom's in the lower Hudson Valley in NYS on the way back through PA to Ohio. Makes a good rest stop and camping. Only been here on week days and it is quite.
It is easy on and off I 84. Just take SR 390 south. There is an easy gas station at the exit too if needed.

Their website says some campsites will be available all winter. Is this new? Does anyone know which ones? Thanks for the pictures, John. We'll look forward to your review of Pickerel Point RGar. Maybe next year....if I can get Mr. Tweety to drive in that direction! (which is a challenge after years of communting to Allentown)

Pickerel Point has always been open all year, but it use to have pit toilets. Only the upper sites will be open now. The new bath house is now solar heated for year round use.

Promised land
We just returned from Promised Land. The reason we couldn't get a full hookup site was because that section was closed. We were able to walk through that section and it is really nice. The bath houses are brand new ( 3 of them ).There were only a few full hookup sites that have any privacy which is important to us.While you can see the lake from all of them, only 2 have unobstructed views. There is a small swimming beach in that section too. There are many walk in tent sites that are right on the lake.We came in from the south.Up I-81,to I-80 then I380 north and into Mt Pocono then onto 390.It's not a bad road.Only one section where there are some S turns. The speed limit is mostly 35mph but a few sections of 40mph. We came in on Sunday and left today ( Wednesday). There were about 7 other units when we came in,but most left on Monday.Lot's of New York and Jersey campers. The weather was pretty decent for this time of year but of course the nicest weather was today when we left! I will post some pics when I get a chance. Thanks for all your help planning this trip.

That's if you want to attach an image to the post (and only people logged in can see them). That's a new feature available here.
You can still click to copy the IMG tag in Photobucket and paste it here as you're writing your post. You paste that in like you were going to paste text- you don't click any of those buttons up top.
