Granite Hill Campground, Gettysburg, PA

We just spent 2 weekends in a row at Granite Hill Camping Resort in Gettysburg. We were very pleased to stay there and take advantage of the $5 charge to leave the camper on site for the week in between.
I have to say there was ALOT of rain the first weekend, the town of Gettysburg itself had water flowing down the street in places over 6 inches deep. We were told that one of the other campgrounds had to be evacuated by boat. When we tried to return to our site on Saturday 4/16 the main roads to the campground (highway 116) and many local roads were closed by firepolice. The campground office answered their phones well after closing time assisting us to find a road that was open and get back to our campsite.
Sunday morning 4/17, we viewed the staff out bright and early working hard to clean up the camp from the rain, and assist any stuck campers in getting out.
During the week the rain continued (not quite as hard, but not stopping enough for things to really dry up). We returned on Thursday 4/21 and it was obvious that the staff had contined to work hard, laying down more gravel and cleaning up. And of course the rains continued.
Saturday 4/23 the rains finally stopped enough for us to want to be outside at the campground, put our awning out and have friends over for dinner. We spoke to the campground staff about making the entry way to our camper a little more accessable due to the mud, and they had a platform at our doorstep within 15 minutes. We moved the table to higher ground on our site and enjoyed a beautiful evening outdoors with our friends.
The campground had many activities going on throughout both weekends. The activites included Fishing Derby, shuffleboard competitions, crafts, flashlight egg hunt, dance, bingo, etc.
The campground offers a large number of sites from tents through large class A, as well as rental cabins and bed and breakfast rooms.
We also spoke with the campground about attending with a group of friends that camps in a everything from tents, through trailers and they told us they had several locations that would work, and would keep us close together too.
We will definitely be returning to Granite Hill in the future.
Some pics from this past weekend (didn't bother to try and get pics the first weekend, due to the rain)
