Cooksburg, PA - Cook Forest State Park
We really enjoyed our stay at Cook Forest State Park. The sites are fairly spacious, and shaded. The bathrooms were very clean. Lots to do in the park - hiking, bicycling, overlooks, kayaking, craft center, and even a theater. Unfortunately the pool is closed this year 2010 but people were swimming in the Clarion River. In the immediate area there are numerous rail trails, and other rivers for boating. The town of Clarion is worth a visit.

Boats ARE allowed on the Clarion...kayaks and canoes in the park, motor boats farther down near Clarion. I meant that there are just other choices in the area as well.

My house abuts CF....
Budget cutbacks in PA have forced the DCNR to close pools, cut camping staff, close cabins etc.
From ridgway down to mill creek you can canoe without interference from motor boats which are millcreek to the dam.
most of the clarion is simply wet rocks, but there are a few swimming holes that hit 5-6ft deep.
if you like the area, try the kelletville area on the tionesta. nice slow swimming hole under the new bridge and the campground is primi, but has potable water and a dump out - for $10. We are trying to host there next year...

Can you provide a link for the Kelletville camping area you are talking about? Thanks!
