Looking for T310SR Rear living area Sunline

Looking for the Model T310 SR Solaris.

This rear living area camper layout was made in 2003 and 2004.

Looks like this.

I have found 1 in Florida, but the inside color is not right for us.

Anyone with a lead please let me know.

I'm on the forum regularly.

Thanks

John

Just saw one today at Tom Schaeffer's. We didn't inspect it, but at a glance it looked to be in good shape.

WOW, that looks great, color looks good. I like the table & chairs instead of the built-in dinette. Good thing I'm not looking to upgrade, as that would be my choice. But, tuggin' 27' around is enuff for me. Especially when sometime in the future it will end up just me and KD the greyhound. Plus, I can't bring myself to go to a rubber roof.

Pam

WOW!!!

Here I have been looking and looking and looking. And with 5 minutes of me posting, Pam pops in with a links. Now that’s service!

I have the pics printed out and floor plan starting looking at it even harder now. Cindy too.... It’s in our 2004 brochure we had from our camper.

It even has the table and chairs which was on our must have list.

And the color, it is the same exact as our T2499. Fern Blue. WOW

It's an 8 hr drive one way... But it’s a Sunline. I drive 400 miles for the first one….

Ok now we have a lot of thinking to do...

So Pam, how is your quest going?

Thanks again

John

We aren't finding anything. If we go with Sunline, we'd want a hard roof, filon sided 2363 - which probably doesn't exist. Like Kitty we don't want to tug around anything longer than about 28 feet, and once you have that easy to clean filon it's hard to go back to aluminum. BUT, the 2363 is just so clever with all the storage in such a small trailer. John, if you get really serious about the trailer at Schaeffer's and want me to run out there and take pictures of something specific I can do that. It's 40 minutes from my house though...hence why I say "serious". We were up in Hamburg bicycling a rail trail and just happened to stop to wander the lot. Oh...and Rt. 78 is down to 2 lanes in that area and it's always backed up for miles. It's probably easier to take the PA Tpk. and go up 222. Schaeffer's just put out a flyer trying to dump alot of their used units. I don't think that one was on it, and I don't have it any more, but they are making deals right now.

John,

That 2004 T-310SR looks like a very nice unit. I like that floor plan almost better than ours (but don't tell Mary)

If you haven't been here yet, here's a link to the 2004 T-310SR Specifications, which you can also download the pdf item locator file from this page.

One thing I thought of while looking at the floor plan was where is the sewer valve located. Is it located under the slide and if it is how far under the slide. Do you have to crawl under the slide to open the valve if you want to drain the gray tank when camping? This was one of the things I looked at when we were looking at trailers with slides. It’s not one of those things that would preclude you from purchasing the trailer, just nice to know. But knowing you, if the sewer valve is located under the slide, I’m sure you’ll come up with a remedy that eliminates the inconvenience. You’ll probably have something designed before you get it home

If it doesn't work out with the 2004 T310SR, another Sunline model that I think you would like is the 2006/07 T-289SR. Very similar floor plan to the T310.

The ads have it as a 2006 but it's only in the 2007 brochure. It's a little shorter and lighter than the T-310SR, if that makes any difference to you one way or the other.

Mike (aka mbart5fan) has that model and they were at the Fall M&G.
Great floor plan with the rear window.

There may still be one available in
Plaistow, NH RV Trader

and

Restless Wheels Inc, Manassas, VA - advertised on RV Trader

Good luck.
Hutch

Pam

First off, thank you so very much, again. Offering to go and take some pics for me, it very gracious and totally unexpected.

Just finding this lead for us was amazing enough. If I take the next step, I will hound the dealer to provide me with the details and pics I need before driving 8 hours over. If they can't be bothered to do that much, well then....

The 2363, I just looked it up. Yeh they have it’s space organized to the max. Which is what I'm finding out too. Our T2499 is really unique in the way they have the inside storage setup. And the outside, side peg board hole, bed room etc. We have ours loaded now and everything fits. Which is part of our criteria. That we have at least the same types of storage space in what ever next unit we get.

One never realizes these storage things until you really start looking hard. A lot of the non Sunline brands have lots of inside open floor space, but no real deep storage space. I have come to the conclusion that we figure out the sq. inches of all our inside cabinet space we have now. And on any other unit, it must be real close or more.

If and when we head east, I'll get some more info on the roads. We may also need a camp ground some where between Columbus and Schaeffer’s a short distance off the interstate. As driving over, spending 4 plus hrs there and them hauling it home is a bit much for one day.

Thanks again for all your help.

John

Thanks for the lead. I already found that archive site and have downloaded the file last night. Now that the Sunline site is down, it's sort of our only place to find this kind of stuff out. Jon's super collection of brochures helps too.

One thing I thought of while looking at the floor plan was where is the sewer valve located. Is it located under the slide and if it is how far under the slide. H'mm, I had not thought about that, yet... Good point, but heck if I change campers, I'll have a new host of projects.

If it doesn't work out with the 2004 T310SR, another Sunline model that I think you would like is the 2006/07 T-289SR. Very similar floor plan to the T310.

snip...

Mike (aka mbart5fan) has that model and they were at the Fall M&G.
Great floor plan with the rear window.

To Mike and you both, thanks for the thoughts. We have come accustom to the pass thru bath and the large amount of room we have inside it. Sort of like your T280SR. Everything is a trade off in these things but I know Cindy will not go for a small bath. She already quick looked over my shoulder and nixed it. And there are times when one knows to not push ones luck.

Good luck.
Hutch
I really have mixed emotions on this change. Been looking at other brands, and they have issues of one sort or the other. We did find a floor plan that was right in a FR Sandpiper. Cindy loves the layout, but if they would only finished the unit out better. I'm really skeptical about the quality after what we have been use to. Artic Fox is a good unit, but the floor plan is not exactly right either.

Which leads me to this T310SR. The quality I know is built in and I can customize from there. About 1/2 my T2499 fixes will fit in this T310SR as the bed room is the same and so is other parts of the TT.

One of my biggest issues to over come is my pre-conceived notion on the 31' 10" of the T310SR. My T2499 with the rear boxes is 27' 8". Basically I'm like a little over 4' longer. I was only looking for a 30 footer, but the T310SR is 31' 10" and the Sunline that comes the closest to the layout even if it is 2 foot longer then I wanted. I do not know how much an issue that is or not? Campgrounds, small towns, etc. Or is it something that in a short while, you adapt and overcome??

Probably my biggest issue is my outbuilding. Just last fall I fixed the overhead door so the T2499 sleeps inside out of the sun and winter. Which in 2004 they made it just under 10' over the AC unit. In 2005, that same model is over 10 feet. Any slide unit that I am looking for, I'm toasted for getting it inside.

May have to do like Kitty and get a TT port, if my town will allow one. I use to be in soybean fields all around my 5 acres. Now across the street it is filled with houses.

Decisions, decisions.....

Thanks

John

John,

I had the same concerns wrt increased length when we moved up. It turned out to be not an issue. I found it was very easy to adapt to the increased length. So far we've had no issues getting in or out of areas. So I believe you'll adapt to it with no problem.

I'm now remembering that when we were at the M&G in Mexico and all the trailers were in a circle it was VERY hard to tell the difference between the lengths of them. They all looked similar, from MakersMark's 2363 up to Hutch's 31 footer. We have the same preconceived notion on length, but our limit is 28 feet, that being based on the fact that the largest we've ever had was a 24 footer. We might have to rethink that. The thing that drives us crazy about other manufacturers (besides lousy finishing) is that they don't put a window in the front, and if they do it SURE doen't open!
Good luck with that dealer. We've not been fond of them, but maybe they'll be better NOT in person. We have always found them pushy. (kind of the opposite of the nice salesmen at Stoltzfus)

Schaeffer's is advertising on the local radio station that they're having an "RV Dump Sale" this thursday (yesterday) through Saturday. Might be a good time to give them a call.

I've been hearing that radio commercial, too. If they seriously want to reduce inventory, this would be the time to negotiate a deal on the T310SR. John, I know your wife has reservations about the bathroom, but having both I prefer the privacy of the enclosed bath vs. the walk through. Then again, I haven't had a chance to use the shower stall in the 2553 and get spoiled by that feature.

Al/Pam,

Do you think Schaffer's is headed to that big campground in the sky?

Thanks Pam and everyone else.

Cindy and I where out camping this weekend. We went again to see a new 2008 brand X that had the floor plan that Cindy really enjoys. Rear living area, large pass thru bath that is not a walk thru. Double slide and table and chairs. 30 ½ feet. For those really inquisitive types see here 291RL

HOWEVER, while the floor plan was right, even had Gel coat siding and walk on roof, the build quality, inside cabinets build, bath cabinets and out side storage is NOT what we have become accustom too. I keep looking and saying well I can fix this, and this and this and this. Sunline has really spoiled us well. I cannot bring myself to this brand yet.

We are going to further pursue the 2004 T310SR lead. We will most likely end up there this coming weekend. I know the build quality will be there, however what shape it is in and how long outdoors it has been, well we won’t know until we get there. And the price, well won’t know that either on what we can end up with. Either can nix the deal and at least we will get this out of our heads and move on. A new one of any brand still in business we can buy any time. But getting a fairly new age Sunline in a floor plan you want, is quickly diminishing.

Which leads me to a few questions to our Sunline club family.

How can I get the MSRP of a 2004 T310SR? or at least one close to it? Sunline did not start putting MSRP on their web site until 2007 that I can back into. And I can only get pieces of it on the archives web site. I need to know where this pricing stated at.

Any of our PA friends, what are a few good camp grounds not to far off the interstate some where mid to eastern PA? May need a camp ground on the way back semi half way home. And that have reservations if at all possible.

I’ll be coming out of Columbus and Wheeling on I 70 heading east. Then I 76, Then I 81, then I 78 towards Hamburb and down Rt 61 to Schaffers. If this is not the way to go, any help here appreciated as well.

I still have to figure out how to do all 450 miles one way on a weekend and deal with work etc, but I will handle that part.

Any help greatly appreciated.

Thanks

John and Cindy

WOW, John that will be a challenging weekend. I take it that your contemplating (IF ALL goes well), arriving at the dealer, inspecting the 310, coming to terms on the deal, transferring your stuff from the 2499 into the 310 and make it home by Sunday night. I have done some quick trading, and LONG days, but that is a real trip. Maybe you could take friday off from work, this would allow you to leave thursday night ? Drive almost all the way to the dealer, so you could be there saturday when they open. Then "IF" the trade happens, you'd be on the road late saturday afternoon and could stop for the night and arrive home sunday afternoon or early evening. Of course, you could always remove pratically everything from your 2499, so that "IF" the trade happens you wouldn't have to spend time transferring your stuff. Any of our members close enuff for a quick drive by and inspection, to see "IF" it looks beat to dealth?

Kitty

The T2499 stays here in her home. ( The shed) I am not trading her right now. She is too good to trade which they give you almost nothing for. I'm also very much going round and round in my head on this and we will be a 2 camper family for a while if in fact I get this T310SR. Then next spring/summer one will go. That is if this T310SR actually comes to pass.

If the deals go thru, I have not yet figured out when I will pull it home. I would like to do in one trip if I can as burning gas on a 900 mile trip twice is not attractive. But is doable. I did 750 miles twice on the T2499 in 2004 going to MI to get "The camper", but gas was better then and Sunline was still in business. Plus I picked the camper up the day after Thanksgiving, so I had 3 days already planned for the PDI and travels home.

I will not know until later in the week on work if I can swing leaving Thursday night to arrive on Friday at the dealers. It will take DW and me, mostly me,..... a full 4 hours to scrub over every inch of this camper inside and out so I know what I'm dealing on and if I deal on it. Then I have to do the 2 plus hr deal with the dealer. Being Sunline educated from the T2499 inside and out, a 2nd time buyer, and not having to have this camper, I know where to go looking and what to look for.

The yet to be confirmed plan is, Drive Thursday night 3/4 of the way, stay at a hotel. Arrive Friday AM at the dealer. Do the 4 hr inspection, beat the deal to death... and hope to be a T310SR owner. Go back to hotel and Saturday, I attach my hitch to the camper, adjust it and head 1/2 way to mid/eastern PA and camp for the night. Sunday we head home.

I have researched this camper to death (as DW keeps telling me….) and we have gone over and over on it in our heads and the floor plan and comparing it to other brands. The front end is the same as our 2004 T2499 and so are most of the components, just arranged different. We know what to expect or at least as much as we can before seeing it. This week, if the dealer cooperates, I will get all the technical build data on it from them. Email, digital pic's and fax are a wonderful thing in modern time buying.

I’ll keep you posted.

John

Wow John,

It looks like a good trailer, so hopefully it'll turn out to be in person.

IMO, $17,500 would be a good deal on it. Start from there and see what they say. I think it has been there for a little while, so they may be very willing to turn it.

You realize, if you do that trip in a weekend, you have no excuse to come to the M&G next year. It's about 2 hours closer to you.

Best of luck to you,
Jon
