There was a guy on Craigslist with a 1997 in metro detroit for $3,700. Just search for "Sunline" and you'll find it. Not sure on the length.
I haven't seen anything in that price range in quite some time. Typically for $2k you're talking 1980's models and most seem to be in the 15-18' range.
Good luck!

I believe it was a 2370 in St. Clair Shores, but that's completely from memory...
Very true about the price range and related models. I just saw a '88 1661 come onto eBay this morning that is just northwest of Lansing:

I am actually searching on behalf of my folks, they would like to have something to do some boon docking with but intend to store it at the cabin so they dont want to have much invested into it. My dad lives in Grand Rapids and called to go look at the one in Lansing but it had already sold, 2 hrs after the guy posted it! Thanks for the info on the one in St. Clare Shores, I have seen it posted, it looks like a great trailer but they aren't interested in spending that much.

Is he interested in something that requires significant work but for really cheap? I know of an '85 that was in SE MI, I think he had it listed for $300 if I remember correctly. I was in contact with him, but he wasn't the best with communication, and I think the ad just ran out and it didn't sell. It needed an entry door built and the bathroom wall rebuilt, from what I could get out of him. I'm sure the price could go lower now. He was using it for storage and no longer needed it.
They do come up around Grand Rapids, but not that often and usually, like anything on the west side of the state, they keep up their things much more than people on the east side, and prices reflect it accordingly. Watch the Detroit area CL, Ann Arbor, Flint, and sometimes they do come up in the northern lower (nmi.craigslist.org). More ads should appear as the weather gets warmer.

He's given me a pretty tall order. He doesn't want a piece of junk but doesn't want to spend much. He is very handy and wouldn't mind doing some work if the price was right. He's really not willing to get involved with anything that has had a history of leaking, and would like it to at least to road worthy. If you still have the guys contact information I am sure he would like to get in touch for more information. He has not made a Sunline a requirement but my wife and I bought the '91 t-1550 in Greenville last winter and have been very pleased with it. Thanks again for the information.

Man, I feel your pain. I don't think the deals are in the smaller trailers right now. With gas prices on the rise, people seem to be dumping their large models. We got a good deal on our 28'.
It sounds like he will just want to find something that has a solid structure and no leaks and then suck it up fior a while while working on the insides. Unfortunately, boondocking it requires most of the stuff to work.
It is possible that you may come across a late 80's for about that much. They are nice and actually lighter than newer TTs for the most part. I myself just have a problem with all the dark woodgrain... It is almost depressing to me.

Here's one that looks good, at $2950 it's still more than you were looking for though.

Sell yours to your dad for 2K, and go buy the 24 footer. That gets you both into Sunlines that you want. You won't have to try to advertise your Sunline for sale, Plus, your dad won't have to have you camper shopping for him anymore, and you will end up with a larger Sunline for your own use without having to put out a lot of $$$.
Just make sure dad knows that "if" you don't/can't get the 24 footer, then you have to keep your 1550.
