Hubcaps??
We are almost finished restoring our 1985 T-1550, and are missing the original hubcaps. Does anyone have any they are willing to part with? Or, what have you used for replacements? They are 13" wheels.
Thanks,
Jenny

i have 4 downstairs and 1 at camp, ranging from fair to good condition....the 13 inch factory caps off of my 1979. they would probably shine almost as new if you hit them with a little polish. i could ship the 4 i have here for 25 shipped to you via ups...i could also take some pics of them later as well if your interested. some just have small dings around the valve stem from being taken off over the years

Can you post a picture? And do you mean $25 for all four, or $25 each?

Thanks, I think I'll get them from you for that price!! I am assuming they are the same ones on the 1979 and 1985, from the pictures they look the same. Can you send me a message with your info, and can I send you a check?

The 1979 Sunline hubcaps would be different from the 1985 13" style. They did have a different style for 1985 for the long trailers, but this was the style that would have been used on an '85 1550. Yes, the black parts would have been a much darker semi-gloss/flat black originally.
However, I suspect the 1979 style would still work on the wheels. They were last used in 1983, so they wouldn't look too out of place.

as you can see 2 of the caps are in nicer shape than the other 2, but all are in good shape for their age, i would hit them with some mothers mag polish, i bet they shine up nice!

They look fine - I'll try them even though they are not exactly the same as the 1985 ones, I actually like these better than the 1985's. Send me your name and address and I will send you a check.
Thanks,
Jenny

I got a set of hubcaps a few months back, only three though, and I polished one (that's all I took the time to do). First, I cleaned it with a good degreaser, front and back, and then I went to town with the Mothers Billet Aluminum polish. I really like that stuff as it does a real good job with very little elbow grease considering. Then when I was done, I washed it again, dried it, masked off the freshly polished areas, and re-sprayed the black areas. Looks really good, though I should have taken more time to carefully mask off for the black. No big deal though, I can re-do that later. They do polish out really well, even though it isn't a full mirror finish. Maybe that could be possible with buffing wheels?

Thanks, Sunline Fan - I'll have to try the Mothers Billet stuff. I've never heard of it. I'll post a picture after I clean them up and repaint the black parts. By the way, are the hubcaps I am getting the same hubcaps as the one around your neck in your picture?

they look to be the same caps as the one he is...wearing... LOL. mothers aluminum polish and a rag work really well, buff them nicely and watch all the gunk on the cap turn the rag black, once your satisfied, take a clean rag and polish them off nice and clean. when you go through the 4 caps, you will notice 2 are in cleaner shape than the other 2....those are the ones i would use! enjoy.
