2006/7 Sunline T-289SR

Hi All! My wife and I reluctantly decided to part with our 289SR. We love this unit, but we find ourselves too often locating boondock sites that we just can't maneuver into and therefore must downsize by several feet.

This is a 2006 on paper although neither the 2006 brochure nor NADA shows this model... only as a 2007. Maybe it was a prebuild for 2007? You may know more than I do about it. At any rate... it's a beautiful unit. It has the usual signs of age like mild staining on the siding and some bubbles/cracks in the decals. It sat unused for many years outside in upstate New York. I bought it a few years ago and did a massive cleanup... replaced the skylights, added fans, resealed the roof joints with Dicor, replaced the AC shroud, recertified the LP tanks, serviced/packed the bearings and replaced the water heater control board, replaced the cord door and city water inlet. It has new Good Year tires on it.

There are zero signs it has ever had water intrusion.... ceiling, walls and floor are solid. Everything works great. The one and only complaint I had is Sunline didn't put in external range hood vents. This unit has one now and it works great... looks factory. It's all original otherwise. It even has the original Sunline tire cover (with the original spare under it lol), and I have the original owners binder with all dealer paperwork and owners manuals.

-Dual 30lb LP
-Dual Batteries
-Electric Tongue Jack
-New waste hose
-Huge sofa/dinette slide
-Fantastic Fans (knockoffs) in bed and kitchen
-Most lights converted to LED
-All doors, cabinets, holds and latches work
-21' awning (fair to good cond) with center rafter
-Slideout awning
-Full unit cover (weathered a couple years but holding up well)
-New outside grill and lp hookup (used twice)
-Dry weight 6200#

Asking $15,000... willing to negotiate delivery or meeting. Unit located in WV panhandle.

For specific details/more photos, email me: canrac1@yahoo.com

Thanks! -Mark & Dana

Hi,

FYI, your camper is a 2007 model, it was manufactured in later 2006 as it would state n the VIN tag. The 2007's come out mid year of the prior year, just like the auto industry does. Knowing it is a 2007 model will help the buyer when it comes time to register it and insure it.

That is a nice camper, the best of luck selling it. That is one nice camper setup.

John

Thanks John.... I figured it was something along those lines, but have always been stumped as to why the dealer paperwork and title show it as a 2006... almost like they built it the day before it could be called a 2007

My wife and I are looking for a 289SR or equivalent with the big view out window. I just you sent an email. I’m worried the 2499 we have will be to cramped if our 15 & 18yo are both camping with us.

H'mm, OK there is a way to confirm what "model" year Sunline declared it as, look at the VIN number.

Count over from the left, starting with 1LC2 up to the 10th digit. If the 10th digit from the left is a 6, then it was declared as a 2006 model year. If the 10th digit from the left was a 7, then it was declared as a 2007 model.

Unless the dealer paperwork or even the title checked the VIN model date, they could easily overlook the model year as the "manufacturing year" is the only year that shows up on the VIN tag. There really is no other year shown in the camper or paperwork from Sunline. When it was sold new, the original Sunline selling dealer should of known all this.

OR, Sunline did declare it as a 2006. We have run into some odd things over the years here on the forum when they crossed over mid year from the existing year to the next year model being made.

Out of curiosity, let use know.

Thanks

John

Well John, you can add this to the list of odd ones lol.

The VIN and all of the paperwork reflect it as a 2006, even though it's a model they only showed in the 2007 brochure and only for 2007 on NADA.

Hi All,

NADA isn't always right- they do sometimes miss models that were launched mid-year. The 2007 T-195SR is a good example of this too. It didn't make the brochure printing because it was launched too late too. They had to make sure brochures were done and out before the fall RV show season.

The T-289SR was introduced in the true '06 model year, before '07s were started. The first one I have recorded by VIN was built in late December/early January 2006, and there are a couple in there together, so a prototype was most likely built earlier that I don't have record of.

I have 7 true '06 289SRs recorded by VIN, all but one of which were built prior to '07 Solaris models starting to mix in at the beginning of March 2006. I have about 20 others recorded without VIN. So it's not the rarest model, but it's on the uncommon side. To compare, I have about 32 total from 2007, and interestingly, they are all post VIN 7000 (when dedicated '07 production started).

Oh right there with you on NADA... and they definitely missed the bill on this one. The build sheet and work order on this unit is dated December 20, 2005 so it's without a doubt a 2006 model even aside from the VIN. I Love a good challenge! You guys are a wealth of info... glad I could contribute a small conversation piece!
