1988 T-1550 For Sale Hamburg, PA

I am selling my 1988 Sunline T-1550 camper. I’d like to think it could be a great little project camper for someone. I do have the title in hand. I bought it knowing that it needed a bit of work. Unfortunately, it needed more work that I was aware of. And it still needs work. The roof has leaked in the past and is still leaking, so that will need to be repaired. The back wall needs to be taken apart and the wood replaced. The water heater tank needs to be replaced. The tires need to be replaced. The siding on one side of the camper is dented from hail. It was that way when I bought it. There may be more things that I am not aware of that should be on the list. Selling it as is. I would really like to get $850 for it but I am open to offers. If I don’t get any interest in it, I will dismantle it and take it to the scrap yard.

Thanks! That's what I'm hoping. But so far no interest. I hate to take it to the scrap yard.

Have you tried advertising anywhere else? I’d think someone would be all over it. It’s a very popular model.

I did not try advertising anywhere else yet. I was trying to avoid all the headaches of dealing with people on Facebook Marketplace and Craigslist. I was hoping that I could find someone that would be interested here since it is a place for people interested in the Sunline models. But no luck yet. Any suggestions of other good places to advertise an travel trailer?
Randy

Hello, Jason from Connecticut here. I'm interested in your camper. Is it towable? Also, would you consider taking $500 for it? My cell is 860-879-1515. Thanks.

Hi Jason,
Sorry for the delay in getting back to you. Overall, as far as I know, it is towable except for the tires. I think that the one would be okay but the other tire is questionable. The tire that is mounted on the back as the spare started to fly apart last time it was on the highway and so what used to be the spare tire is now in use. My son-in-law took it to Kentucky this fall to do some hunting and the tire issue happened on the way home. As far as the price goes, any chance you would be willing to do $600?
Thanks,
Randy

Hey Randy! Yes I will give you $600 dollars if I like what I see when I get down there. So far I do because you have taken great photos. I have Saturdays and Sundays off. Also, the Christmas break is coming up (school employee ) if that would be a better time. I will send you a few more questions in my next message. This one is getting long. Thanks.

Hi Jason,
I could probably make this coming Saturday work. Next Saturday is Christmas already so that's not going to work for me. And Sundays don't work for me. Sometime during the week of Christmas break could work for me as well.
Thanks,
Randy

Hello Randy,

The weather for this Saturday looks like it is going to rain for both of our areas. So I will not be coming this weekend. I still have to find tires and make other preparations for the trip. If it would be easier, I could even wait until the holidays are done. Please let me know. I should be able to find a set of tires by then.
OK now for the dreaded camper questions. I will put them in list form below.

1) Do the rear or tail lights work?

2) Is the registration current on the camper? If you let me use the plate, I could mail it back to you if you like. If not I will have to come back with a temp license plate.

3) Do you know the status of the breaks and wheel bearings?

4) Is the camper structurally sound? Is there any wobble in the walls?

5) Could you please take some photos of the under carriage and roof when you have the time?

If you want to communicate in the future by email mine is JAllardPhoto2001@att.net

Thanks,
Jason

Hi Jason,

If it works for you to come between Christmas and New Year, that should be fine. At this point, I don't see a problem with that for my schedule.

1) As far a I know, the tail lights work but I will need to double check.

2)Registration is current on the camper. I would think that we would want to go to a notary around here to take care of the title paperwork and get a transit tag.

3)Sorry, I don't know the status of the brakes and wheel bearings.

4)No wobbles in the walls that I am aware of. My son-in-law said it pulled just fine going down to Kentucky and back a few months ago.

5)I will try to get some undercarriage and roof pictures to you this weekend.

I will probably send the pictures to your email address.

Thanks,
Randy

Hey Randy, I was thinking on taking a leap of faith and sending you a cashier's check along with a bill of sale. Then you could send me the title with the bill of sale and I could get a temp plate here and then come pick up the camper. Please let me know what you think.

Thanks
