Soon to be Sunliners (we hope)
We are making a 3.5 hour trip to Niagara Falls this weekend to do a personal inspection of a used 2001 T-2553 Solaris Sunline... if all goes well, we'll be bringing it home with us. We have had an electric brake controller installed in our 2003 Dodge 4.7L V8 truck, and we're picking up our trailer towing mirrors later today and having them installed this evening.
This is a private sale from an online posting, and the current owner has been extremely helpful: he referred us to this site (which is awesome!), and also sent us about 3 doz. pix so we could see every nook & cranny of the trailer, both inside and out. He is including the weight distribution hitch in the deal, and is going to help my husband set the electric brake controller, so we should be able to hook up and go!
I'm so excited I'm like a kid in a candy shop... I'm already sorting and labelling contents for all those wonderful storage cabinets! My husband is a little more apprehensive... we just sold our 1300 lb tent trailer, so it will be a big difference pulling the much longer and heavier travel trailer... but we are both looking forward to owning a Sunline: I've been doing a lot of research on different trailers since last September, and the more I looked, the better the Sunline looked! (We really liked the 2 Sunlines we saw on dealer lots: unfortunately, Sunlines sell so quickly that by the time we saw them they were already spoken for.)
My husband is retiring the middle of May and we hope to do as much travelling as our budget will allow once he is footloose and fancy free. In the meantime, however, we hope to take our Sunline on as many weekend trips as possible so he can develop a good comfort level before we try to take it on a long trip. (Not many campgrounds are open up here yet, but the versatility of the travel trailer does give us a few more options.)
Once I actually get my greedy little hands on our 'new to us' Sunline, I will post pictures!
