Question Snip the tip

Has anyone installed a "Snip the Tip" Dometic refrigerator thermostat repair on their Dometic fridge?

I have not seen this myself before, heard about it, but I'm assuming this is what you are talking about

https://www.snip-the-tip.com/cgi-bin/articca.cgi

I scanned though it, and if you are sure your thermistor is bad, there is a test for this, then this is not a bad thing to try on a bad thermistor. I myself would not do it just to gain the adjustable feature. If the fridge is working right and vented right, it should and will get down close to 33F and maintain there. Adding a vent stack fan in the right place also helps create a more stable colder fridge.

Not sure what model fridge you have, but there is work involved in changing a like for like or upgraded part from Dometic to get the old one out and the new one in. Any of the larger fridges, you most likely end pulling the fridge forward to gain access to the back of the fridge. Not that, that is extremely hard to do, but it is more involved.

Let us know how this comes out.

Thanks

John

Thanks for getting back to me. I ordered the snip kit, after checking it out again. My fridge would not stop cooling. Went to 33, then kept going down to the high 20's. Ill let you and anyone else know how it goes. I think the fridge is a 2420, in my 1994 T-1700. I love my Mother of all small tandem axle trailers. Thanks again.

The fridge will not stop cooling, yeh, that is a sign the thermistor is having issues.

Looking forward to your report back in this.

Good luck,

John
