Been lurking here for some time so I decided to join.
My wife and I bought our 22 footer (2250 perhaps?) new in 1990. It was a 25th anniversary of Sunline as I recall. One of those bunkhouse types. It has been all over the country. After the kids grew up, our jobs and life got crazy and we haven't traveled in it for 4-5 years. I do stay in it when hunting. I noticed last fall that the floor is rotted in the front and in the bathroom back so it is going to need some fixing.
My wife and I are now retired and have taken care of some medical issues and are anxious to get back on the road. We have been looking at new trailers but they all seem so huge, heavy and expensive. In that I am going to fix the Sunline anyway ( I don't have the heart to scrap an otherwise excellent trailer) I thought I would simply remodel it to fit our needs.
Our Sunline has a dinette in the front that makes a bed, a pull out couch in the middle that makes a bed and a pair of bunks in the back. The remodel would involve making the front dinette a permanent bed (momma wants a real bed) removing the pull out couch and making that area a dinette and pulling out the bunks. The bathroom is in the back anyway so it would be nice to have a larger bathroom across the back and use the remaining bunk space for storage/closet etc.
I am going to have to tear out the floor in the front and in the bathroom anyway so I may as well rebuild as needed.
Big job I know. Plan to start on it in May. (Hopefully the snow will be gone by them, LOL). I did rebuild our first trailer, an old 1972 Holiday Traveler so I have an idea of what I'm up against. Of course that was over 25 years ago so we'll see if I can still do it.
