New Sunspot Owners in North Carolina
Hi Everyone,
My husband and I just bought the 1982 Sunline Sunspot that was listed on craiglist in York, SC. We are very excited to no longer be sleeping in a tent! We've been rained on way too many times and decided to start shopping for something that we could pull with our 1981 VW Rabbit Truck or our 2000 VW Jetta.
We look forward to talking to everyone, and the information we found here was extremely helpful in making our decision to buy the Sunspot.

Sunflower,
Welcome to the group. You have become a member of the MOST informative place for Sunline owners. Did you purchase the Sunspot that was painted a reddish color?
It would be great if you could make the 2009 Sunline Rally to be held in Mexico, PA. I know it's a long drive for you, but something to think about.
Kitty

Hi Kitty!
No, we didn't purchase the reddish one. The one we bought was in SC and listed on the Charlotte, NC craisglist. Here's the link: http://charlotte.craigslist.org/rvs/721496968.html
I'd love to know more about the Sunline Rally. Is there a link I can visit?
Thanks for the warm welcome!

welcome in, Sunflower--we not only have a Sunspot in common, but I used to own a 1981 VW truck--the rabbit on steroids, my co-workers used to call it.

Here is a link to the "Meet & Greet" forum:
http://www.sunlineclub.com/forums/ph...wforum.php?f=3
You can read about all the happenings from the 2008 M&G and see who has already signed up for the 2009 M&G.......unfortunately DH & I have not been able to attend the Buttonwood M&G - we have however attended the Nick's Lake (Adirondack Park) M&G and plan on doing so again this year.
As Kitty said - you have become a member of the "bestest" forum on the web!
Welcome and enjoy your new to you Sunline!

Welcome... you can find more about next years meet and greet here...
http://www.sunlineclub.com/forums/ph...pic.php?t=2066
I'm sure you'll love the upgrade from your tent. There's something to be had with a wall between you and the elements, animals, and noisy campers when you're in for the night. We made the upgrade from a pop up this spring and love the 'new to us' travel trailer we bought.
I tried to convince my wife that driving to SC and buying an 82 Sunline would be beneficial... it just didn't fly. (I bet a few other here can make that claim as well )
If you get a chance, I'd love to see some more pictures of amenities, etc.
Enjoy your new Sunline!
Take care,
Jason

Sunflower:
Welcome to the club. You bought a great little Sunline. I tried to talk my daughter into buying it, but she has other priorities. I'm glad you joined our club. We look forward to more pictures than the two on Craig's list.

Photos will be forthcoming....
Thanks to everyone for pointing out where the events / rallies are listed. I will keep on eye on those. And thanks for the big, warm welcome too.
Al & Jason, I will try to take some photos and post them this week. I took everything out of the camper this weekend to clean it from top to bottom inside. The DH has been rustproofing the undercarriage and shining up the chrome. We have plans to change some other things like the carpet and the upholstery on the cushions as well as refacing the cabinets to make things lighter...but that will not happen this summer. We just want to get ready to go camping!
Gaelen, that's so cool that you had a VW truck too. They also were only manufactured for a few years in the late 70's and early 80's, so we feel it's the perfect vehicle to haul the Sunspot. I look forward to swapping stories with you and possibly picking your brain about some things.

Hey Sunflower! Glad to have some more "southerly folks" around! We are in the OBX area quite often!

Photos are here!!!
Here's a link to the photos I posted to the Tiny Trailer forum this morning:
http://www.mikenchell.com/forums/alb...p?user_id=7301
Our garage is a mess because the DH has jumped right into readying the camper for paint & stickers. The interior will have to wait until after the warmer camping months.
Tiny, nice to see some other folks from the area. We love the OBX! I've been vacationing there since I was 13...quite awhile now

Thanks for posting the pictures. I never saw the inside of a Sunspot. You have a great little trailer.

Thanks for looking, Al. We're pretty happy with it so far. I hope the photos gave you a good idea of how very small the Sunspot is. When you convert the dining area into a bed...there's nothing inside but bed! The layout is identical to many teardrops.

...which is why people on the Teardrops & Tiny Travel Trailers forum are so interested in them...a little more height, but the same kind of tow weight and general spirit. That and they're not made anymore.
Thanks so much for filling up your album; it's nice to see what my Sunspot originally looked like. Now I know what style tail lights I should be looking for, and that my tongue really is original (so the VIN has got to be on there somewhere; I just have to look harder!) Make sure you check out my album on T&TTT to see what the previous owner did by way of renovation and what I've managed to do since I've owned mine (I'm Gaelen there, too.) I also put some pics in my blog:
http://gaelenscafe.blogspot.com/2007...-sun-spot.html
I just put brand new tires on it (well, my brother did and I helped) and we repacked the wheel bearings. It's been through its first CNY winter and taken a lot of punishing weather in the last couple months (driving rain and severe windstorms) but not a single leak. Yesterday, I found a Sunspot-striped umbrella at Walmart, and plan to use it to add some coverage to the side door.
Great pics!

Hi Gaelen! Actually I feel like I already know you because I read all your posts about the Sunspot and looked at all your photos before we went and bought it. Your information and photos helped us know what we were getting into. Thank you!!!!! I love your curtains! I'm making some now with sunflowers, daisies & black-eyes susans on them. I've affectionally nicknamed the sunspot, Sunflower.
By the way, our VIN # is on the driver side of the tongue, on the side. It's a little hard to read, but hopefully you will be able to locate yours if you know where to look.
Take care!

More Photos of the Sunspot
Here's a link to some more photos that I've posted on the Tiny Trailers Forum. These photos are out in the sun and are post-paint. There's still more to do, but we finally feel like we can load it up and take it down the road camping!!!!

(There are 5 pages total, and you can click on each photo to view it larger.) Thanks for looking
