New Sunline owner in UT
We moved out to UT from MI about 9 years ago and have enjoyed camping in the mountains with our tents. After a 2 day downpour last June, my wife finally said "buy me a camper, or I'm staying home from now on". So the tents went in the dumpster, and I started looking for a small camper that our minivan could pull.
Originally, I wanted a popup. But summers in the mountains can be cold (it usually snows during our annual Fathers Day weekend camping trip), and I wanted something I could take elk hunting in late September.
I saw this one night on the online classifieds and immediatly called to see it the next morning. At 8am, for just $800, it was mine!
The previous owners had used it for 20+ years as a hunting camper, and usually only used it for one or two weeks each year. It was dirty, and there were some things that needed immediate repair, but all of the appliances worked, and there were no leaks.
I brought it home, and after some deep cleaning, fresh paint, rewiring the taillights and charging the battery, we were ready to take it on our first trip. So Labor Day weekend we took it to Flaming Gorge with no problems. My wife said she has never been more comfortable, and will never sleep in a tent again!
Over the winter, I have replaced the table and counter top, and made a few smaller repairs for convenience. I recently took the cushions in to have them recovered, and will be adding new window treatments soon. After such a long winter, I am anxious to get back out there and try some new areas. Payson Lakes is already reserved for June, but we may try to get a quick trip to Moab before it gets to warm.
I appreciate this site and all of the useful information and tips. The photos have been an inspiration, and I find my "To Do" list getting longer and longer. I have already posted photos of my efforts so far and will continue to add more from the restoration and our camping trips.
