New Sunline Owner in Michigan
Hello All,
Just wanted to take this time to tell you a little about me and my wife. We have been contemplating for some time about buying a camper of some sort. We first looked at what we had as a TV and it wasn't much. It was either my Ford Ranger with a 3.0 engine or my wife's Mercury Mariner again with 3.0 engine. Both are underpowered and we felt the only option was a tent camper until we seen a 1995 Sunline T1550 listed in our local paper. We went to take a look and when we seen it for the first time it was Love at First Site. We wanted to get our feet wet so we we did. We will deal with the underpowered TV for now, it will just take us a little longer to get there where ever there is. We have been visiting this site since we purchased our trailer. And I have to say it has been a tremendous help.
Thanks for this site and all it's members!!!!
John & June

Welcome John & June! As I said in my picture comment, you have a rare coach there. The 1550 was a very popular model in the '80s, but sales were minimal by the mid '90s when everyone wanted a bigger trailer, so it was discontinued in 1996. There aren't many of the '90s ones around at all.
Where in MI are you? We're having a meet and greet campout weekend coming up in mid May in northern Ohio if you're interested. It's a great place to come as a newbie to learn lots of tips from us more experienced RVers:

CONGRATS, I was just looking at the album pics you posted.. One clean rig there.. I had a 1979 15 SC last year to refurbish & use in back yard.. The newer graphics are very nice... Wife wanted a shower & we found a 18 foot gooseneck.. Same comment with the Smaller Fords as I had a Sport Trac. V-6... Guys talked me into 2010 - F-150 believe the 4.6 V-8 . Truck did not even break a sweat with the 18 ft.
ENJOY your SunnY

Congrats on your purchase. Looks very nice!
I have a '83 T-1550. Love it, lots of outside light can come in, which I really like.
Enjoy and post lots of pictures and ask away with any questions you may have. Everyone here does their best to help each other.
The T-1550 tows pretty easy. My TV is much more than I need for this trailer.

Thanks for the Welcomes,
I am sorry I did not have anymore photo's of the inside of the trailer. It was kind of an oops on my part and right now my trailer is buried in the snow. We live in southeast Michigan a few miles south of Adrian and we have had our share of snow and cold this year.
Thanks for the info on your TV Split, it's kind of what we had in mind when we get the finance's in order.
We did two outings last fall, one at Harrison State Park, Ohio and the other at Dogwood Valley, Ohio. Both were excellent Parks and when I get time I will do reviews on both and post some pics of our camp sites.
I want to purchase a better hitch this spring before our next outing. What do you think about Fastway's new E2 hitch with integrated sway control?

Hi John and June and welcome to the SOC. Congratulations on finding your "new to you" 1550. It looks like a well cared for rig.
Take care and happy camping!

Fastway and Equal-i-zer
Hi John and June,
Progress Mfg. owns Fastway and Equal-i-zer. Their Equal-i-zer website is still active so I'm not sure where the E2 fits into the grand scheme. Scroll to the bottom of this page and you'll see links to both Progress and Equal-i-zer. I have the Equal-i-zer and have found them to be easy to contact by phone, or email; they are knowledgeable and informative. Make a list of all the info you have on your TV and TT, especially the weights and call them to see what they recommend.
One thing to keep in mind with Equal-i-zer is that the hitch head is sized for the bars. If you get a bigger trailer that needs bigger bars, you'll need a whole new hitch. Ask them about that when you call in case they've changed. Some hitches like the Reese DC can be upgraded, but I think the Ranger sits too low--the Equal-i-zer has a little better ground clearance at the L brackets than the Reese has at the cams. JohnB is pretty familiar with both hitches and may post his thoughts on the best route for you.
Henry

We live just north of Detroit and have what we believe is a 1983 t-1670 from the research I have found on line. She is now gutted because we found a leak, but we hope to have her back to gether before the end of the week
