New-sed sunline

Hello everyone! New to the RV trailer world with what I think was a great deal from a friend of mine. A 1981 sunline M-16RB. He was gracious enough to sell it to me for $1100 and I think that was pretty good for a starter camper for my family of 4...me, wife, and 2 kids...11 and 4yr olds. Only thing it needs is the bathroom completed. Can anyone tell me where to look for the original setup it would have had in it? He replaced the floor and it has all the tanks already. Just a blank canvas waiting to be finished.

To what did the original bathroom look like, I can't help on that but I can send a note to one of our older camper guru's if he has any pics.

Some of the older campers had what they called a "wet bath" The toilet basin was part of the shower setup. You can redo it that way, or not have a shower and just have a sink and toilet. If you go that route, there are many of us that can help then as the newer Sunlines the shower was separate. But, this comes as your choice.

Here are some pics. I think my bathroom might be different as the toilet and shower are separate. I have repairs to do obviously!

Hey there Tin Gypsy! Yep looks like ours did to start with before my buddy started on it. I found a 32x24 shower pan I'm going to use and a new toilet on Ebay. We are thinking of using roofing tin for the walls. I'll just have to seal it up good since it is corrugated. I'll post pics later. Good luck!

Welcome! Sorry for the delay from John's response- here are some pictures of original bathrooms.

This one was not a true wet bath, but the shower head did use a diverter on the sink faucet instead of having separate plumbing and a fixture.

It looks like the base cabinet for the sink also served as a place where the city water connections came in, as well as possibly part of the inner wheel well.

I will caution you on the barn metal for lining the shower- not only will it be difficult to seal, keep in mind that you'll probably bump it often. It's a small shower, not like what you have at home. Bumping into that possibly cold feeling metal will be a real wake up call! As an alternative, you could also do FRP panel (fiberglass reinforced plastic). It's available at home stores in a 4x8 sheet and it's the same material on the entry door skin of your trailer. It's also used at a lot of car washes and in commercial kitchens, so it's good for water. Easier to seal up too. I would put a piece of aluminum angle iron in the corner there, with the bottom edge overlapping the shower pan lip, glue the panel edges to it, and then silicone the actual corner seam.

Keep in mind the original shower wall material was vinyl covered wood paneling, lol. The shower curtain frame may have extended all the way around to cover it during use, I'm not sure.

Thanks so much Sunline fan for the info and pics. Yeah the "boss" agrees about the aluminum for the walls. The FRP seems to be the more logical choice. I have enjoyed getting ideas and info on this sight and look forward to sharing when I get done.
