New members from near Pittsburgh, PA

We are Rob and Kathy from Moon Township, PA. Having camped in tent trailers for 25 years, we finally made the change to a travel trailer about 6 years ago to a 12-year-old Sunline Saturn that had great storage space using the bunks but the bed was only a 3/4 size and it had no sofa as the sofa had been made into a bed permanently. We just bought one of the last Sunline T2499 trailers that was made. So far we really like it. We like the T2499 because it gives us the sofa and a queen size bed in only 26'. It is pulled with a 2003 Ford Explorer. I am going to post some pictures of some modifications we made.

Kathy,

Mexico is west of Harrisburg, PA and east of State College, a small town. I have to go to Buttonwood Campground wensite and use their map to find Mexico.

Now to Webshots,
Once you bring up your pic, look on right side of screen, scroll down to gray area that says "Link to this picture" I usually click on the "500" for size.

Under post in a forum: highlight the entire link, right click

Then in your message just right click and you photo should appear. You don't need to use the Sunline Forum code to insert the pic for some reason, it will just insert when you right click.

Hope I explained this well enuff

Let me knw,
Kitty

Finally got my pix on the site in a decent size. I used 425 size - have never linked my pix before.

Mexico does not sound too far away from Pgh. we will look into it.

Welcome/Bonjour fellow Pittsburgh'er. Good to see some more "locals" join. I am from the Baldwin/Whitehall area, so you are probably the member who lives the closest to me!

My GF's son goes to RMU, and I continuously travel (in a plane, not trailer) , so I am in your neighborhood frequently. Next time I will be in your area will be March 22nd, when I return from a 6-month sentence ---ummm I mean an opportunity working in Europe.

My summers have been a bit sketchy for camping trip planning but perhaps we can meet up sometime? I imagine I will pull my trailer out of the underground mine storage near Butler, sometime in April.

I think the earliest we have been able to get out out there and camp is the very beginning of May. I bought my Sunline over the phone, in March of last year---from Milan, Italy----where I was, not the trailer .

The first "test" camping we did in the Sunline was our first time to Tomlinson Run SP in West Virginia (because we thought that Raccoon Creek was too close to home )

Where do you plan on camping this year with the new trailer?

Hi Mark,

Nice to hear from you. We live about 4 miles from the Pgh Airport and about 5 miles from RMU. We've camped at Tomlinson Run and also at Raccoon Park. The last few years it has been Racoon since it is close and my parents (Beaver) can come out and spend a day with us and our daughter can come over after work and spend the weekend with us. We camped many years at Tomlinson when Raccoon had been ruined by engineers who were not campers. Then one weekend we drove up to Tomlinson and they had no sites so we turned around and went to Raccoon and found the trees had grown up again and there were some pretty nice sites. We go there about 3-4 times a year. We will be going there on Memorial Day weekend. Due to church commitments we don't usually get out until then - but who knows - on a nice weekend anything can happen.

I have camped with my parents since I was about 10, my husband and I tented for about 6 years, we had tent trailers for 25 years, and then my parents gave up camping (for cruising) and we got their 12-year-old 18' Sunline. It had great storage space but the bed was too small and there was no sofa. We kept it for 6 years and then bought a brand new T2499 Sunline which we have had for 1 year now. So far we really like it and are looking forward to getting out again. We are thinking about going to the Sunline weekend in Mexico, PA on June 20-22. I see there are already 20 units signed up. Have you ever gone there?

If you go to Raccoon on Memorial Day let us know and we can meet up there.

Kathy

I did not get to the rally in Mexico, PA last year year as my travel schedule was unknown at the time we needed to book, and we had a trip planned the week before.

We were more of the Central PA camper types (think Clearfield County), than Western PA campers, and I found that Raccoon was not exactly my idea of what a State Park should be.....

On Memorial Day, we are usually in the metropolis of Galeton, PA for a friends family reunion. I will post any plans we make in the appropriate forum, and send you a PM when we know for sure about plans.

Welcome again!
