Hello, Everyone!!
Great to find a forum where I can get to know other campers!
I'm going to purchase a 1986 Shasta Sunline Solaris (posted as Solara) t1550 15 footer. But before I do, I have a question for anyone out there....my tow vehicle is a 2008 Dodge Ram 1500 Std sgl cab P/U auto with the mfg tow package 6 ft bed...Will I, should I get Electric brakes, and how are the hooked/installed? Having my hitch installed with an anti-sway bar. Other question, should I get a transmission cooler??
Thanks a lot *saving site to favorites!!!

Hi I'll take a stab at your questions.
#1 Shasta & Sunline are two different companies. Check the Files section for your trailer.
#2 If your tow vehicle has a tow package it should have a transmission cooler.
#3 Electric brakes should already be installed and they would work through the electrical connection to your truck.
#4 I think anti-sway bars are a good decision for these size trailers. I didn't need them for my 999 pound pop up Cox camper - so many years ago. But now I do for my 2753.

Thank You!

Ohh you're a God sent and eased my mind!! I'm surprised a 1986 Shasta has mfgr electric brakes. So, connecting the 7-plug would simply do all the work?? Yea!!!

Hi and a little more info for you. The tow package on your truck does not include a brake controller. You will have to buy and install one. They are pretty much diy. I am retired for 6 years so not up to date on what is available now. Also you need to check and see if the 12 volt charge line is connected.

Hi RadRosie I'm confused and maybe you are too. I just looked up 1986 Shasta and their models all start with M-####. All Sunline trailers start with a T- ####.
You state you have a T-1550. I have a T-2753. Both are Sunlines.
See Files for information.
I'll back track on my original #3. I don't know if a 1986 came with electric brakes or not. Could be mechanical brakes but I just don't know. Someone else will have to chime in.

According to the files an 86 T1550 has electronic brakes as standard equipment.
