Hi Mikeyb,
Congrats on your new Sunny!
H'mm you said it is a 2003 T-317. Is that a typo? I'm not finding a T-317 in the 2003 model year. Or in the 2002 or a 2001
However from that one pic, it looks like a T310SR. Is your 7 a 0? It would have a large rear window in the back.
But.. something is still not adding up as the shower dome is on the wrong side for a normal T-310SR. But, the color scheme and the body style is a 2003. The 2002's had the black trim windows. And the 2004's had a lot of different design changes. It looks like a 2003 but the model number is a mystery.
You might have a prototype camper! For the T310SR. Wow, that would be cool.
Please post some more pics of the other sides of the camper outside and any inside if possible. And check the model number. Inside in a top kitchen or bathroom cabinet is a weight sticker. It will tell the model number there. The VIN sticker on the outside front left will have the model number also, but it may be so sun degraded that you cannot read it.
This is exciting! We may have a new part of Sunline history with your new sunny!
Thanks for sharing and Welcome!
John

Hi John,
The T-317SR was a mid-year addition in 2003, after the brochure was printed. There were at least a dozen built, which wasn't much better than 2004.

Aluminum corrosion
Hello All,
I have a corrosion issue, water on the paneling has caused corrosion on the back of the camper and on the very top piece of aluminum which is 30 ft long, only ft is corroded about a half inch down. Is there anything to put on the aluminum to stop it from corroding ? I’m replacing the panels on the back with diamond tread aluminum, but can’t do that on the top piece where the roof meets the side. Any ideas? I know there is stuff for metal but I haven’t seen much on Aluminum

The corrosion is coming from the wet on the inside. I have seen this before. There is a chemical reaction between the water in the wall, contaminants in the water and the bare aluminium.
I have repaired it from the inside out. Meaning the siding is off the wall. First is to stop the chemical corrosion and the wet. Clean it, then apply Eternabond roof seal tape on the inside. If the hole is big enough, then put a piece of Ebond on the outside and a small bead of Dicor non leveling sealant on the exposed edges of the E bond so dirt will not stick to it.
See here. This is not as bad as yours, but the same process

I'm not totally sure where this siding is on our camper by your word description. You mention 30 ft long, this sounds like the top left or right side wall siding just below the roof line. If I have the area correct, if you have the roof opened up to fix water damage repair, you can unstaple the very top piece of siding at the roof line. Then gently fold it back to get to the inside of the siding to put the inside patch on. But, I suspect if the corrosion is that bad, that wall is a lot of wet inside. Odds are high you may have that wall apart to fix the wet and the siding will be open then.
As a temporary patch for right now, clean the outside of the siding and use black or white Gorilla tape over the holes to stop water from getting in. Try and get only that brand, Gorilla. Normal plain jane duct tape will not hold long.
Hope this helps
John

Hi Mikey,
Thanks, that is interesting. By chance does yours have a sheet that shows the standard features of the T317SR?
Question, does your camper have an enclosed tank compartment? Means the tanks are above a black plastic cardboard looking sheet. You can't see the tanks themselves as they are above that cover.
See here from my manual on my 2004 T317SR, it has this these items as standard construction. And under the words "CONSTRUCTION" it lists Enclosed Heated Holding Tanks.
Trying to piece some Sunline history together as to what travel trailers had these enclosed heated tanks. So far my T310SR and T317SR both have that feature but this feature is not widely known. Yet anyway.
Thanks
John

H'mm. I also see Sunline lists a 162" slide topper as an option. I wonder if that is a carry over cut and paste error from the smaller sofa slide campers. It appears Sunline may have installed the too short awning. Have no good explanation for that other then, they goofed or Dometic didn't offer one back in 2003.
