Hi All: Greetings from Up State NY. You know the cold country. I purchased a 1987 Saturn last year. The pictures looked good and the owner said there was a spot behind the front curtain and under one of the benches. WELL I looked the unit over closely and made him an offer. When I showed him what I found he grabbed the offer LOL. Then I began a complete front tear out and rebuild from the floor, up the front and both front sides. Looking forward to the spring. Frank

I do have a bunch of pictures. How do I add them? I added a profile picture but it doesn't show when I post. Thanks

Awesome!
It looks like you did upload a profile picture, which until now I didn't realize existed separately. The small pictures next to our posts are avatars, which adding one of those is an option just a few below where you added the profile picture.
Adding photos is easy, and there are two options. You can either attach a picture to a post (this is better if you are just sharing one random picture), and that's in the advanced post screen, scroll down to manage attachments.
The other way, which is to create an actual photo album of a bunch of pictures (probably better for what you want to do), is to click the gold photos tab on the top of the page. Once there, it'll show you some recently added albums from other users, and then your albums below (which you'll have none now). You can either click "Create New Album" in the upper left corner of that box, or click "Add Album" in the lower left. When you do, it'll ask you to name and describe your album. Once you click submit, it'll take you to the screen to add your pictures.
While we can find the pictures on your profile, and they will be featured at the top of the forum for a little while until someone else adds new pictures, you can link a specific picture into a post by using the BB code. When you enlarge an individual picture, below the picture should be two links. Highlight and copy the bottom one that starts with [img]. Paste that exact complete link in your post and then the picture will show up in that spot.
Here's more reading material on posting pictures, if you'd like to read it: http://www.sunlineclub.com/forums/f6...html#post91613

Also, from your profile picture, you do have a 1987 Saturn T-1550, one of the more popular floorplans.

Thanks for the welcome. I was able to post a album of the front restoration of the 1550.

Welcome Irishman! Congrats on your Sunny! I also have a T1550, same year. Nice job on the rebuild. I wish I had seen your pics months ago. Very nice!

Hi Frank,
Welcome! I see your pics, wow you did great work! Congrats!
Also looking at the pics I see you are into Ham Radio. Big time too. I'm not but I have a next door neighbor who is really into it. I helped him this year seal up his camper roof and he had his loaded with some of the same things yours has. The outside antennas were the give away, when I say them I said, h'mm I wonder if if is a ham guy? They for sure are not Sunline camper options from the factory.... Then I saw the front inside area, ah yup for sure. We do have some Ham radio folks here on the forum too.
Happy camping this year and we are looking forward to hearing and seeing your Sunline adventures.
Thanks
John

Thanks Tommy. I just found the group yesterday. I didn't rebuild the dinette as yet. I kept the table and cushions. The frame work was shot. I may replace it at a later date. I have my ham radio stuff on the off door side and a nice recliner on the door side. Frank

JohnB Thanks, It was a fun project. I was able to do a couple of nights before the weather got to cold. I enjoy the radio hobby. Mounting antennas is a challenge. LOL Frank

Rebuild looks good Frank! I can't tell if you did this, but one thing Sunline always did, at least in later years, they covered the tops of the clearance lights with a small bead of Dicor roof sealant. That would help prevent water intrusion at the lights like you had. Makes getting the lens off much more tricky, but it's worth it in the long run.

Rebuild
Thanks Sunline Fan
I did seal the new lights but I used silicone. The lights are LED so I am not worried about taking the lens off. I would have some concern using Dicor because it is self leveling. I would be worried it would run on a angle surface. It is a great product and I have used it on roof's from time to time. Frank

Hi Frank,
Dicor now does make non sag, non leveling Dicro. See this post where we use it on vertical and horizontal seams. http://www.sunlineclub.com/forums/f7...tml#post137746
And if you use it on the DOT lights or anywhere else, using a heat gun or hair dryer, warm it gently. Do not stand in one spot to burn, keep the heat moving. Then use a plastic scraper and it comes off. If you want to removed it to bare metal again, scrape what you can, then mineral spirits on a rag and rub. Then use naphtha, rubbing alcohol, lacquer thinner or other high flash cleaner to get the residue left over by the mineral spirits. Just do "not" use acetone. It will take paint and all with it.
Hope this helps
John

Yep, and to add to what John said, silicone isn't any good for RV things. It might be ok on a light, but personally I wouldn't chance it. Different expansion rates of materials and flex from towing down the road can pretty easily break a silicone seal. The Dicor is designed to flex with all of that.
I actually used the self leveling on my lights, because it's what I had and had open. Honestly it worked a lot better than expected. I didn't go over the edge of the light, and it just settled nicely to the edges and filled in without running all over.

Ver. 1.0 now at ver. 3.1 involving a ground mount screwdriver antenna. The elements are the remains of a 10M beam they slide inside of each other giving me 10,12,15,and 17 meters. At 17 meters it's pretty big and maxed out without a truss of some sort I will say it is a killer portable antenna a hand full and best left for things like field day. I do the GOTA station for our local club otherwise it stays home usually and I use ver.3.1. I have lot of pictures if you are interested Ver. 3.1 is about a 10 minute project and I'm on the air. Mainah,
Your gracious gift of pics is very welcome. This is a perfect camper modification. Consider a new post on it. Our number of ham operators continues to increase.
Thanks
John
