New Guy with 1984 Sunline F-1850 Fifth Wheel

Hi Everyone.....
I've been lurking in and learning from your website for the past 3 years or so. Finally got around to signing up in Nov 2010.
Bought this camper 2 years ago after finding on Craigslist. The owner was very optomistic, wanted $3500.00. After a few hours with him, listing all the problems, I offered him $1100. The structure and interior was sound but nothing worked.
Basically, it spent about 10 years before I showed up under a tree up in our mountains in Lancaster, New Hampshire. All forlorn and abandoned. First thing to do was a complete full outside mildew removal effort. All four sides and roof was covered with green/brown mildew. Had to kill it before I could even get any to come off.
Last year did mega-maintenance effort on the camper and completed a lot of new installations and replacements of stuff as well. Was time to really spiff up this 27 year old camper. I get a lot of good comments wherever I take it, but most often that people have "never seen a rig like this one before".
You'll find pictures of my 1984 Sunline F-1850 Fifth Wheel at http://www.sunlineclub.com/forums/me...albums122.html
My tow vehicle last two years was 2003 Chevy S10 CrewCab 4X4 with 4.3 V6 engine. As truck had 150,000 miles and I wanted a V8, a few months ago got 2010 GMC Canyon CrewCab 4X4 with 5.3 V8 engine.
Still have a few things I want to do to it such as second battery box, rear leveling jacks, new same color paint job, new body striping and new Sunline decals. Lucked out, found 5 new matching newly made Sunline decals on eBay. Only needed 4, a spare is good.
Good to be a part of this group, a ton of information and help here!
Best, Bruce "hardybus"

Bruce, let me first welcome you to the forum. Happy to hear that you decided to register after lurking for 3 years.

The F1850 looks awesome. Thanks for sharing the pictures. Have you considered joining us at the Meet & Great at Buttonwood this year. It would be great to meet you and see your F1850 in person.

Welcome to Sunline Owners Club.

Glad you came over to join the posters at the campfire.

Your handy work on that 5er is great!!! WOW that was a project! Those small 5er's Sunline use to make are for sure unique. Neat concept and very stable towing.

Looking forward to seeing and hearing more about your camping adventures.

Happy Camping

John

Nice unit mr hardy.

Back 20 years ago I had a T-1350 for about 5 years.

I want to get another sunline this year.

Right now I am torn between the F-1850 and a T-1750 or a T-1550.

How does the trailer ball mount in the bed? Is there some type of plate on the bottom?

Do you have a portable tripod with a ball mounted for a front end brace while unhooked?
