New 289SR Owners

Hi everybody,

We are new Sunline owners in northern NH. Picked it up after finding it on the Internet in Butler PA. Long haul to get it but it seemed like a good deal. The dealer told me it is actually the one built for the '07 brochure. It is also on the Sunline RV site that for some reason is still up. We really like the camper and it seems to have more of a quality build to it compared to the "other" brand we had before. We do however have a leak in the roof of the slide-out. When trying to get some warranty repair that is when I found out about the closing of the company. I was in contact with the factory and they were willing to even come get it and repair it. I was amazed at the commitment to their product that they showed. That is hard to find. I guess we are out of luck now on any warranty repairs and the great warranty and reputation is one of the reasons I purchased the Sunline.

Welcome to the forum and congratulations on your 286SR.

We have the 2005 280SR, which was the predecessor to the 286SR. We love the floor plan and the room it provides.

Did you get the leak fixed in your slide room?

Hutch

289SR

We really like the floor plan of this trailer (289SR). Where we are going camping this summer in Vermont we can back right up to the lake and sit in the rear living area looking out over the water. Very cool.

We haven't gotten the leak fixed yet but the slide is in for the Winter right now. It doesn't leak when in. I have looked and looked and cannot find where it could be leaking. It doesn't seem possible as it is a one piece rubber roof. No seams anywhere.

Welcome to the forum!

Although I have never owned a SR, I believe the slide rooms do not have a rubber roof. I think they are fiberglass, but I'm not sure. The seal for the room needs to seal tightly, and I don't think that would be possible with a flexible rubber roof. If you don't get around to fixing the leak ASAP, make sure you keep the slide in when you don't use it.

Hi Marshallg,

We also bought a 289 late last fall so haven't camped in it yet. We originally planned on waiting untill spring to buy but realized the choices would be slim and we had wanted this model since LaRue first told us about it in late 2005. We hope to try it out this weekend and the forcast calls for rain so we'll be sure to look for any leak issues. We camp a lot at state parks in the Adirondacks and as we are usually backed up to water, we will be doing the same as you, enjoying the view. Good luck in getting the leak fixed, hopefully it's a minor issue easily repaired.

Mike

Long Haul

tinybluetj,

Yes "Slim" is a very nice guy. They were all very helpful there also. Even helped get me checked in at a campground after normal hours with no reservation.

It was a VERY long drive. That interstate across PA at times made me think I was going to break my brand new trailer in half! You know when you come onto those sections of interstate with the broken up cement and those bridges where you just feel like you are crashing when you cross. I have also never experienced so much tractor trailer traffic and construction. I was worn out after that.

It was worth it though! Love the camper and I got to see some country I have never seen before.
