new 1971 21671 16 SGR

Hello...
I just bought an immaculate condition 1971 Sunline . Vehicle I.D. No. is 21671 16SGR. Date of manufacture is April 1971. I cant find any information about this camper online. Anyone know if I got a good deal spending 1400 bucks. Does anyone know if this is a rare camper or why I cant find any info online?
Thanks so much for any info.
Kane

Kane,

Congrats on your 1971 Sunny! $1400 for a Sunline in immaculate condition would seem like a good deal to me. Hopefully, it'll be worth more than that in the enjoyment you get out of it. We love pixs here so it'd be great if you could post a few.

SunlineFan should be able to help you out with more info on your Sunny.

Hi Kane,

You have NO IDEA how excited this is getting me! This is a VERY rare trailer. Yours is only the second 1971 Sunline I've heard of and the fourth oldest I've heard of since my time around Sunline began in 1996.

In 2004, Sunline held a contest to find the oldest Sunline still around. Obviously this meant that people had to know about Sunline and visit the website, but they did have a lot of entries. The oldest Sunline found was a trailer built just a few before yours, and was what I believe to be a 22' RB. The owners actually sent in pictures to the customer photos section years before and identified it as a 1969 model, but the contest revealed that it was indeed a 1971, #18871. Sunline actually traded them for a brand new Sunline, and then sold that 22' RB to a local guy after the contest was done. Back in this time, the last two digits of the VIN indicated the model year, and the three or so numbers in the beginning indicated the production number.

There is very little info known about the Sunlines this old, because they are so rare and I have no documentation on them at all. The oldest I have is for 1974.

I would definitely love to see as many pictures of it as you can take, and I would like to have full size versions too if you can email them (So I can zoom in on details).

As for paying $1400, I don't think it's too bad assuming it is in good condition with no water damage issues. The rarity doesn't do anything for monetary value since there really aren't Sunline collectors (except me). You just have the honor of having something really rare and unusual.

Here's all I have on the 22' RB (unfortunately this is as large as they get):

Apparently it says a security token is missing and I cannot upload pictures. If you want to give me your email I will gladly email you some. It looks very similar to the one pictured but the inside is all matching wood. Hopefully I can get some pics up later, Thanks for the info though, I sure many good trips will be taken in this camper.

My email is sunlinefan at yahoo dot com. (sunlinefan is one word there)

Thanks for the heads up on the security thing. I assume that's with the site's attachment system here? If so, I'll pass it on to see if it can be figured out.

Oh my... WOW. Some one did a lot of really nice work on that camper

I'm assuming this is restored? Or is this original?

Thanks for sharing. That is a rare find. Happy camping in your "new" Sunny

John

Kane, did you get my reply email to your pictures from 5/15? Just curious because I did have some questions in it.
