Kirk, Teresa and Moose T-2490

Our family just got a T-2490.Paint is faded and I'm planning on resealing this roof this month but otherwise this is a really nice camper and I feel lucky to have got it. Our little buddy Moose is already putting it to good use.

Oh! I do need to repair the attached window. I disassembled and measured the opening in the door. It's 64 1/4" x 13". I'm not a fan of the frosted glass. Would like to maybe get some tinted glass to replace it. If anyone has any good ideas on the tinted glass or sealant to use for this repair please pass along!

Thanks in advance!,
Kirk

Wrong measurement on door opening window.
The opening in the door for the window is 15" x 24 1/8"

I believe on your vintage door, inside there is a removable ring that holds the outer frame to the door. Once that frame is off, the glass can come out and the outside black ring.

To seal the outer ring back to the door when you put it together, suggest this caulking sealant. RV Proflex https://www.geocelusa.com/product/pr...xible-sealant/ It comes in colors and clear. RV stores sell it, even Amazon has it. I buy mine here, you pay the freight unless you have a $99 order of something else then shipping is free. https://www.rvupgradestore.com/searc...roflex&Submit=

To smooth it out, create a soapy water mix in a small cup. I use Dawn dish soap. On any exposed out Proflex, use a wet finger to smooth it out. Do not apply a lot of pressure, just gently strokes with a wet finger and smooth it out.

After appling about 2 to 3 feet of Proflex bead, stop and smooth it out right away. If you wait 5 plus minutes it will tack up and drag and not smooth out. Need to work quick, but not rushed.

You can out some under the outer flange to the door and then a small bead around the door to the window flange and the flange to the glass.

On the door glass itself, that may be tempered glass to help not shatter with the door vibration/slamming. I'm not totally sure, but it could be. A place that sells window or auto glass may have some options.

AS FYI, they also now make a door window shade kit for RV doors. I have a friend who put one in his Jayco. It looked nice. I found this brand, not sure it is the one he used, but this also has tinted glass option. It might be worth a look http://www.zarcor.com/rv_products/index.php

Let us know what you come up with.

Thanks

John
