Just bought three days ago- first Solstice Sunliner

So happy to find this group! We just bought a 1991 16' Solstice Sunliner Trailer.
We have off one month- end of Jan to Feb. Want to try going Cross Country. Have only used our pop up on the east coast. Not sure if it would be too much. We are in our 60's (Baby Boomers). Any suggestions? How long might a trip like that take if we want to stay on West Coast for 6 days or so and visit a few major parks along the way.
p.s. Got some fixing up to do first- heater, minor things and needs an awning.
Hoping to meet new friends from here along the way.

Welcome!

Congrats on your new Sunny! We are glad to have you with us. There are a number of baby boomers in the club. We span all ages.

Going cross country in a month. That will be an adventure! We have several members who have done it, it is on our bucket list and will mot likely start in about 2 years after the daily grandkid sitting tones down.

I can recommend some tips on the camper to help make the journey a little easier.

1. Have the brakes checked/adjusted and the wheel bearings repacked. Buying a used camper you have no good idea what the condition they are in until you have them done and can start timing forward from when you have them done.

2. Tires. On trailer tires (ST tires) age of the tire is often more of a concern then the depth of tread. Most camper tires age out before they wear out. There are DOT date codes on the tire you can check the 4 digit week and year they are. Also look for cracks between the threads and the side wall. Don't forget the spare tire too. 5 years old on a ST trailer tire is often the time recommended to change them.

3. Before you head out, try and do a couple weekend campouts with the camper so you can get a good check out of the camper that all works the way you think it should. Learning all this on the first trip going a long distance can be harder to do fixes then at home.

Have a great time and start building those new memories in the Sunline!

Hope this helps

John
